This is my honest opinion, my cat loves this food he eats only this food now. It is a great quality food. My cat weighs 12.2 .large breed Siberian forest cat. He’s turning 3 years old. He has never looked better. Is coat is beautifully is eyes are bright. He has no health issues no constipation , diarrhea, nothing. He’s beautiful pure white long hair triple coat. I have been feeding him this food for almost 6 months. He is on his 3rd bag. One 8.8 lb bag last him a little more the 2 months. He free feeds. He hasn’t gained any weight that I can see the food makes him strong & lean. I’m so happy I found this food for him. Thanks so much Optimeal.Ps. I just started him on the pouches of turkey&chicken this past weekend so far, he loves it too. Licks the bowl clean an no stomach issues nothing! ordered 24 more packs today.Update: it’s been over a year an he still loves this food. He did loose a little weight but that could be cause he’s lost his kitten fat. I just wish it was a little cheaper but it’s worth it if my cat is thriving!So here it is April 13,2025 my cat still eats both dry an wet food but he now enjoys the rabbit& beef wet food the best out of all the flavors. He’s thriving from this food now almost 5 years old.

We usually feed our cat Wellness Core dry food, which we have fed without complaint for the entire time we’ve had him. However, I wanted to branch out a bit and give him some new flavors and brands, so I picked this up when I saw it. Our cat seems to really like it, but here’s the snag: it’s 32% crude protein and 18% crude fat compared to our usual dry food that’s 38% protein and 12% fat. In this regard, they’re actually closer in composition to his Friskies party mix treats, which are 29% protein and 15% fat. It does bear saying that Friskies treats are designed to contain complete nutrition so that they don’t dilute your cat’s nutritional intake. You could in theory feed those treats as kibble, though this obviously isn’t recommended. So this entire issue isn’t a huge ding on Optimeal as much as it is a comparison so the reader can follow my reasoning for the rating. They’re a bit fattier, which of course seems to make them tastier to feline palates.The pellets do have a sort of “slick” coating on them, although it’s not excessively oily to the touch. They’re a good size, larger than our usual but still small enough that our cat can crunch them down and not choke. He doesn’t go as nuts for them as he does for actual treats, but he definitely seeks them out over his regular kibble. Overall, I like having Optimeal as a backup kibble and I think I’ll mix it in with his regular kibble a few times a week just for some variety. I don’t think I’m comfortable feeding our cat solely on Optimeal due to the protein/fat content, but it’s nice to have as a semi-regular treat.

This is the first time I've seen this cat food on Amazon. I decided to try to give my cats some variety (I have five cats). It took a while for them to get used to it, but once they did they really do like it. I say give it a try.

Maybe the kibble is too big?

Looking at the nutritional value and at the care with this Optimeal dry cat food was created, I'm impressed at the quality. It's not easy to find healthy cat food as most have too many unhealthy add-ons. But, no matter how much I may like something, it's my cats that will make final choice.Normally my cats prefer smaller kibble as they're elderly but I guess they really love the taste. The one who didn't like this food has barely any teeth left and I guess the food was too hard for him.I gave a friend, who makes her own cat food, some of this dry food and her cats scarfed it down like they were starving. Typical cats!While this food is pricey, it's still cheaper then vet visits and I LOVE the idea of supporting an Ukrainian company!Yes, all of us wholeheartedly recommend this dry cat food.

I bought this because it was on sale and seemed like a good deal for a grain free food option for my cat, but it was a waste of $24 and whatever tax. My cat is not picky at all, and she absolutely refuses to eat this. I passed it along to my sister-in-law to give to her cat, and her cat will not eat it either. Neither one of us have picky cats. I’m very disappointed and I wish I had not purchased it. Even if the quality of the ingredients is great, it doesn’t matter if the cat won’t eat it. So just purchase with caution.

My cat will cry for food and when I give her dry food she turns up her nose at it, hoping for something more exciting.She got excited as soon as I opened the bag of this food, and immediately descended on her food bowl with a purr when I gave her a scoop.The food comes in small nuggets, with no unpleasant smell. The bag is recloseable, which I really appreciate.
