TYT TH9000D Nice inexpensive Transceiver
I purchased this TYT TH9000D to replace the old one. The first one died after approximately four years. I ended up selling that one on an online popular auction site for parts. There isn't much in the radio industry for the1 1/4 meter band, (220 Mhz,) mobile any longer. Sure you have those Tri-band transceivers, but only put out 25 watts on VHF and 20 on UHF. I am not in the market for a tri-band, so I purchased another TYT TH9000D. It has 60 watts output and has a decent receiver. It cost me approximately $125.00 USD. It's all most like a throw away Transceiver like the rest of the Chinese HTs, Baofeng, etc. So cheap there's no use trying to send it away to get fixed. We'll see how long this TYT TH9000D lasts. If you're interested in an inexpensive 220 Mhz Transceiver and cannot find a good name brand Transceiver in the used market, (Alinco or Bridge Comm etc,) I recommend giving the TYT TH9000D a try. 73, de W8STU

Good quality for the price
Bought the 220mhz version of this radio and initial impression is that it is decent quality for the price. There aren’t that many new 220 mobile radios on the market to choose from, but this one works well. Build quality is good and comes with a programming cable and the radio is compatible with Chirp. Has all the common features needed for repeater usage and scanning, being able to change the lcd backlight color and brightness is a plus (the default blue is hard on the eyes, but the orange is great). The audio driver is a bit noisy when pressing buttons or turning the radio off and on, and when the squelch breaks. However, when used in a car, not as noticeable. However, I didn’t experience the squeal or other audio artifacts others might have with prior versions of this model. For the price, build quality, and features, I would recommend this radio.

Potentially good radio but zero quality control
It's unusual for me to be one of those people who throw a 1-star rating on something. I can usually find something good to say about any product, but this one really disappointed me. Years ago I had the first edition of this radio for 220 MHz and it was actually very good until it stopped working several years later. I bought a second one and it, too, worked pretty well until it also failed after a few years. Since then I've been using something else but decided to try getting one again after hearing that some other local hams were using them. Imagine my frustration when the radio arrived DOA. I could power it on and even program it with the included cable, but the audio didn't work correctly and the transmitter was completely non-functional (yes, the transmit option was enabled). The display would also start showing garbage after trying to change a few menu settings. In short, it was completely unusable and I'm immediately returning it. I won't waste any more money or time trying to buy anything made by TYT. Your mileage may vary since other reviewers obviously had luck with their purchases, including the local hams mentioned above. But it's clear that, unlike some other Chinese brands that I've had consistently good luck with, TYT has no quality control and will ship out completely defective units. If you buy one, I hope your experience is better than mine.

TYT 9000d Rocks!
Been running the TYT 9000D 220 for several weeks. Verry happy with the radio. Took a little time to figure out programming. After understanding programming logic, radio works great!

With the use of the optional software and programing cable it is very easy to program and save all your imformation from this ..
Have run the Allenco 235t 220 rig. For the price this rig has more features and is a 55watt rig. With the use of the optional software and programing cable it is very easy to program and save all your imformation from this fine rig.Thank You K9XOK

At first it takes time to setup!
it takes time to setup but once done the radio is OK!but it needs some work as the radio is a bit quirky,I had mine for about 3 1/2 weeks and the volume button started sounding scratchy! So i was sent another one as a replacement! And that one once programmed didn't even key up the local repeaters! So sending that one back and keeping the scratchy volume one!As I know that one works just fine! All in all its an OK radio once you get use to it!KE6GRP DE73
