Hi there. The charger that comes with this starter kit is only compatible with UK plug sockets.

Q: Will the batteries keep their charge while stored? My current drill always lets me down because I can't just pick it up and use it, it's always flat.

Your current drill probably uses ni cad batteries which loose their charge over time. Li ion batteries used in the Ryobi drill are much better and hence the drill is always ready even after long periods of not being used.
