Twelve inch openings on all three instruments are big enough for all my projects. They work smoothly and they are accurate. Hint: Squeeze to release spring tension then spin knob to approximate position. This way you can adjust to any opening in a few seconds. They are fairly thin steel but rugged enough when used with reasonable care. I like them.

Not the prettiest set I've owned, but Sterrets are a 125 each. Yes they have oil on them, that's a rust prevention thing. Other than that they are functional. Solid built

used the i.d caliper to take a few measurements inside a hole, there was no other way i could have done so. these paid for themselves in 10 min.

Keep a coat of oil on these. They rust quite easily.

I am a new (1 year) hobbyists wood turner. These have proved to be a good choice. No "bells and whistles" but they along with my tape measure do everything needed.

These are heavy duty. They hold their settings very well. I definitely would recommend them to anyone doing woodwork or steel work.
