EVICIV 7" Touch Screen for Raspberry Pi, 1024X600 IPS Display Portable Dual Speaker USB Hdmi Computer Monitor Compatible with Raspb Pi 5/4/3/Zero/Windows/Drive-Free

This is the fourth time I wrote this because I keep hitting the back key, loosing all just before I'm about to send. So I'll keep this one short. This is the second time I've purchased a 7-inch pie screen from this seller and both times same packaging everything is very nice the screen has weight to it it's solid, quality, it has built-in speakers it comes with a 3 amp power brick an assortment of cables pretty much everything you'll ever need for it right there except for a battery pack that would be nice but there is wires for that and a terminal. I believe there's an NFC card reader on the back I never really took the time to find out but to me it looks like an NFC reader. Oh no I'll probably get a third and a fourth because they're great. Great value also considering what all comes with it too which, that being said the screen almost pays for itself and that price amongst the accessories. I don't really leave any reviews but I'm very happy with this product in the seller. They are also quick to retply to any questions you may have shipping is fast, just all around a good deal! I hope this helps some of you with your purchase decisions, it took me awhile to get my first one because I to was skeptical of the price and quality, but I definitely don't regret it! Handy for so many things! how many things have you thought would be better with a screen on it seriously,? I believe at one point in time I probably even thought about putting a screen on my toilet seat later LOL well now I can 😂 I think I'm going to get two more to throw in my visors in my vehicle, I could probably help you with some ideas while I'm typing this fourth time. Still. Lol back of headrests for children and vehicles, always wanted that refrigerator with a LCD screen it does more than just tell you what button to push or a temperature at best, easy retrofit. Have children? Well not now you'll be selling buy more of these 😂😂 Stop putting them in everything what's wrong with you, you need help! 😂 (Clicks buy on 2 more)😂 information, impractical the quality they get the job done and you can really develop a disorder if you had too many of them, I wonder how many will fill my living room wall ... Now that definitely would not be the best value for square inch 😂 okay my review and days are done I'm retired have a good one! Get one and done 😂 Enjoy! not spell checking this I know it'll happen when I try I'll do it again I know I will LOLPs, don't peel the screen protector off! It's not a thin plastic layer for packaging and shipping reasons, it's pre-applied screen protector with no installer error air bubbles!, Smack your other hand if it tries to take it off! "No, Bad Hand, You Behave!". 😂

Purchased this display over 4 years ago and the "extras" FPC cables were missing, which wasn't a big deal to me at the time and I didn't follow up on it right away. I've used the display with an RPi4 and have been satisfied with the display and the touch screen. The audio isn't much to speak about, but I wasn't expecting much there and that isn't what I bought it for.I was able to come up with my own longer cables for the back-ported connectors for power and the USB touch signal no problem, but I couldn't find an FPC to micro HDMI that worked which would make panel mounting much nicer.So finally, after 4 years I want to install the display in a panel, so I wrote the supplier and asked if there was any way I could purchase the FPC to micro HDMI cable from them. Within 48 hours they dropped both micro & standard HDMI versions of the cable in the mail to me - no charge. Had them within a week of my initial email request. Wish the cables were a bit longer, but was blown away that they popped for the cables after 4 years. Sadly, customer service like this is all too rare these days. I'll overlook the minor issues like missing the cables initially and give them a full 5 stars for the excellent support from Sophia. They're on my "Approved Supplier" list.

UPDATE 3/2/2022It's been a while since I've reviewed this screen and since then I can see some of my concerns have been addressed.Specifically, the item description and marketing materials no longer reference the Pi Zero (which was one of my original complaints). The current item description no longer leads me to believe that Pi Zero devices should be supported out of the box. I believe this is reasonable resolution to my complaint in this area.I've also noticed in some of the other recent reviews that some users have posted pictures including a new JST 4-pin connector to USB-A cable. While I have not confirmed this myself, if this is indeed newly included adapter then this would also address another of my complaints (rear HDMI but not rear USB).Since this is an updated review I now also have the data to speak to reliability and quality of the display itself. In my projects this screen has been in service almost 24/7 since I got it back in 2019. Most often it has been displaying static images (partial screen, black borders when needed) for up to 30 minutes at a time (think digital picture frame type usage). I have observed no burn in or color issues and the glass cover has remained reasonably scratch free (I am careful with it but at the same time given the length of use stuff happens). The screen is essentially as good as it was on day 1 in all respects.EVICIV support did notice this review more recently and reached out to me (they wanted help address some of the concerns and call my attention to updates they have made, including in their support process). EVICIV support has greatly improved since I purchased this screen and I am confident now that if I run into any issues with their products they will be able to help.I am revising this review to 4 stars as one of the biggest issues has been resolved and another appears to be resolved. If I could rate their support independently of the product I would give their current support team a 5 star rating.ORIGINAL REVIEW (2019)The screen itself works well but despite marketing and labeling (including markings on the screen itself) it is not compatible with Raspberry Pi Zero out of the box. You will need to cobble together a mix of adapters and cables to get it working - this is why I claim it's misleading to market this as pi zero compatible, especially since the back of the screen clearly has labeling for use with Pi Zero implying the Pi Zero is an intended use case (it shows exactly where to mount it - never mind that getting the necessary adapters to physically connect in that mounting position is a a bit difficult due to space constraints with the surface the screen is sitting on).Pi Zero issues:* Only 2 of the 4 mounting points are usable. This is a fairly minor issue as the Zero is small enough that only 2 mounts hold it reasonably well; however, most products that use small standoffs like this one usually permit them to be unscrewed and moved to the alternative placements - the mount points are not removable on this screen so the 4 mount points for the full sized Raspberry Pi models are all you get. (Mount points #3 and #4 are not usable, I would have expected mount points #1 and #2 to unscrew so they could be moved to 3/4).* The FPC cables (it comes with two) are for full sized HDMI and Micro-HDMI only - the Zero uses Mini-HDMI* Using a standard FPC cable end (search Amazon, there aren't many choices) that does have a Mini-HDMI end, the FPC cable itself is about 1" too short for the placement of the Zero's mini-HDMI port. This means the only option for for using a zero is to buy your own Mini-HDMI cable and use the full sized HDMI port on the side* The Zero uses micro-USB only so connecting to the touch interface means finding/making a micro-USB to micro-USB cable or using an adapter* If you mount the Pi Zero where it says to you will have to use a low profile right angle micro-HDMI adapter - standard cables will prevent the display from sitting properly on it's stand due to proximity with supporting surface (this is also true of full sized Pi models but the FPC cables just barely fit)Other Issues* No standard USB pot on the back side to permit rear-mounted USB for touch input (the HDMI can be attached without using the side plug so why not the USB port?). You can power the screen from behind using the custom power cable and socket but that is power only and does not support touch input. (Note that there is a un-documented 4 pin header labeled GND, DP, DM, 5V - this appears to be a custom header for a USB connection but no cable nor documentation was supplied regarding this header - I will do some further electrical testing to see if this can be used as a rear USB connection so that none of the side ports need to be used).* Annoying red/green LEDs - extremely bright (especially the green "on" led, the red "sleep mode" LED is not as bright). An option to disable/remove these LEDs would be nice - they waste power (important for battery based projects) and cause light pollution* Lots of back light leakage at the bottom of the screen where the ribbon attaches to the display from the back of the board - this can be distracting to viewers* Dimming the display has little effect on power usage - this can be observed via the back light leakage as it's brightness remains constant regardless of the display brightness (this mostly matters for battery projects as it means the display's power consumption is in effect always maximum regardless of settings).Notes:* Screen model appears to be v5.0 D190930* Came with lots of accessories - very nice* Screen has adjustable settings similar to a normal PC screen* IPS display has good viewing angles* Screen consumed at it's peak 250mA @ 5V via the touch USB input - less depending on brightness and content* The supplied stand is not adjustable - if you don't like the height or angle you will need to build you own stand* Screen is nice and solid with a good weight - I don't feel like I am going to break it by handling it* Good build quality* Screen firmware navigation buttons are flipped in certain menus (up/down are inverted in certain menu screens)Reasons for low score* Misleading marketing concerning the Pi Zero - my project was based on using the Zero but now I have to hack together some other series of parts to make it work* While rear HDMI was provided, rear USB was not - why only supply half of the solution? If you want touch and HDMI you are stuck with a cable sticking out the side. If you only want HDMI without touch you can do this without customizing the screen* (minor) LED/back light light pollution (solvable via paint/tape/etc)Update:I have verified that the un-documented 4-pin GND (Black), DP (D+, White), DM (D-, Green), 5V (Red) header is indeed electrically connected to the touch USB interface. I was able to make a custom micro-USB to 4-pin cable and now have touch functionality without using any of the side ports.Also note that if you are using your the FPC cable you cannot use the side HDMI - even if the back device is powered off. My screen appears to detect the dual connections and flickers on/off. By physically disconnecting the FPC cable I can again use the side HDMI. Not a big deal but during development I tend to use multiple devices so I found it odd that just by having the FPC cable connected it caused an issue (the FPC cable was connected to another un-powered and disconnected device - logically that should be an open circuit, the same as having the FPC cable disconnected but in the end it was not).
