The Art and Making of Aladdin

Having watched the film I was intrigued as to how the film was made. This book provides an in-depth account of everything that pertains to the extraordinary production of this film. Its beautifully written and would make a lovely present for someone interested in what goes on behind the scenes in making a film amazing.

It was a great Art book.

This is a beautifully presented hard back book much in the same style as previous Disney ‘making of’ books. I am a huge Aladdin fan so was particularly excited for this release. It has everything you would expect for the most part: high quality images of the sets, locations, characters and stills from the movie along with insight into the design/visual concepts and music. There are direct quotes from many of the actors and filmmakers throughout the book, including a lengthy introduction from Guy Ritchie (the director). There are plenty of interesting things to take away from this book and while I have no regrets purchasing it I did feel it was missing many details and revelations about the movie you might really want to know. For example, the music chapter only mentions five songs when I know there are a lot more (the only new song mentioned is ‘Speechless’). I was interested in the finale of the film and how Jafar looks as a genie but there are no images or mention of this. I know the film makers probably want to keep some things a surprise but with all these missing details the book didn’t feel quite like it was complete. I don’t believe there are any reveals in the book which aren’t already public knowledge.

Very much like the movie itself, this book is a wonderful, beautiful and colourful guide to the excellent live action version of Aladdin. Nice concept art and hi res photos make this an essential purchase.

En mi caso fue para un regalo y quedaron encantados.
