for my 4 year old Norelco
I ordered these replacement blades for my 4 year old Norelco and they came in a ridiculously short amount of time. The blades are great, I think, but with the new blades I've been getting a lot of razor rash especially in the area under my chin. Apparently it takes a while for your skin to get used to the new blades, but the rash was really bothering me, so I went to the internet looking for a solution. I found online that the rash was really avoidable if I exfoliated my skin a couple of times a week to get rid of dead skin and bacteria, and exfoliating also gives you a much better shave. I figured it was worth a try, so I ordered this TreeActiv Anti Acne & Rosacea Treatment Sulfur Mask Plus Rhassoul, Bentonite Clay Mask with Witch Hazel & Aloe Vera - Refreshing Lemon Scent (1 Jar) (4 Oz) online, and whoa--it worked really well. It felt a little funny at first to use such a thick cream on my face, but it really helped make my shave so much smoother and I also was able to get rid of some of the painful razor bumps that I get every so often on my face. I definitely recommend changing your blades more often than 4 years in between, and just in general it helps to exfoliate your face a few times a week for super smooth shaves that you will have to do less of. Also, I use TreeActiv+ Tea Tree Oil Acne Solution for Advanced Acne Treatment - All Natural Acne Spot Treatment - Blemishes Gone or Your Money Back! (60ml) to clean my razor, apparently it works better than anything else in preventing dullness of the razor, and its good for keeping your razor in good shape.

Better than buying a new electric razor.
I have the Norelco 8825XL and this is my 3rd replacement set of head that I have purchased from Amazon over the past 8 years. Since it really feels like a new shaver again, it is like buying your current shaver for just 21 bucks. Before buying yet another set of replacement heads, I took a look at all the current shavers, reading all the reviews, figuring that after 8 years, perhaps it was not worth it to spend any more money on my old shaver. In the end, I decided that I'd rather have an 8825XL over any of the current 2012 crop. They are all short in at least one of these areas that my shaver does fairly well with: It is a wet/dry shaver that travels well. There is no bulky and fragile support stand to lug around for those 3 week+ trips. It can be used plugged in when the battery finally fails or stops before I am done shaving. It is completely reliable. Many of the current Lithium battery shavers seem to be dying within 2 years. There is no way to use them without the battery being charged and it appears that the chargers are killing the batteries prematurely. This was never a problem with the old battery technology (tho I have always COMPLETELY drained my batteries before re-charging.. so far I am nearly 3,000 shaves and 8 years with the original batteries). It may not do as well as a razor, but none of the current crop do any better. The $300 Norelco 1280X/42 SensoTouch seems to come close, but they are charging an arm and a leg for the attempt to get the battery technology working almost as well as the older-and-cheaper NiCad technology. I can replace the batteries when they finally do die. In the end, I figured that until someone decides to make a shaver that is clearly better than the one I have now, why not just keep getting these replacement heads every other year until the motor dies, which could easily be 50 years from now.

so mine is at least 12 years old (still running like a champ) and I am on my 4th set ...
I have purchased 2 of these sets of HQ8's from Amazon (Nov. 2013, and July 2009) and one previous from a retailer locally. I use the for my Norelco Spectra 8894XL. I don't remember exactly when I bought it, but the oldest review of the razor is dated 2002, so mine is at least 12 years old (still running like a champ) and I am on my 4th set of cutter heads. Unlike many, I don't shave every day, but usually every other day, and I sometimes use a hand razor and lather. Consequently my blades last longer. These blades fit perfectly, are well made, and include new cutter screens along with the blades. Once a week I clean out the interior of the the driving head on the 8894XL with an old stiff bristled Windsor-Newton artist's brush (way better than the supplied razor brush) and tap the detached cutting head on the sink and blow it out. After that a take a touch of clipper oil on my finger tip and run it over the screens. Once a month I brush the razor interior and flush it with warm water and disassemble the entire cutting head, brush it out then rinse with water, dry add the oil and reassemble. Finally once every 4 months I do the same, but in addition I take the entire disassembled head assembly, place it in a jar with rubbing alcohol, then place the jar in my water filled ultrasonic cleaner which really gives things a good cleaning. My main point in going through all of this is to preserve my Spectra 8894XL as I have read reviews on the newer Phillips and Braun razors and they have nor been all that great! Many have died in a year or less. I'm surprised after all the time I've owned the razor it still keeps a good charge. As recently as last November, 2014, i went on a 7 day trip and left the charging cord at home. When the battery finally does die I will try to replace it my self. I have already removed the back to take a look and the battery is indeed hard soldered./ That being said there are also many videos on you tube showing you how to replace the battery on your own.

I have had my shaver for a while and of late I had notice that he did not seem to be shaving as well as it was. When I reviewed the instruction manual, apparently you should replace the shaver heads at least once every two years. This was news to me. Anyway, when I weighed up the cost of a new shaver or replacement heads, I opted for the latter. I have to say, it's like having a new shaver and you can tell immediately that you are having a closer shave. These blades are good quality and I would recommend the branded heads as opposed to others you might find on the internet - might be slightly more expensive but quality and brand for me is very important. Highly recommended.

Was easy to install and all of a sudden my shaver worked like new! What a shocker that sharp blade will shave.

Qué bueno que se siga encontrando esta pieza pues es elemental para el buen funcionamiento de la rasuradora Philips Norelco.
