Sounds great
I must say this pickup is different than the 81, slightly less hot maybe, more sensitive to picking attack. But...if you read the instructions at all you could just buy the tone switch it comes with and use it on a normal 81. Its more of a presence than tone feature. Definitely worth trying it out.

Bought a used one , it’s missing parts
Be aware that if you buy a used one , it may be missing parts . I bought it because it was a good deal but it was missing 2 cables and the adjustment screws and springs . The 2 cables are necessary for installation so I’m returning it .

Emgs are the best. These new x's are even better. EMGs customer support is totally awesome. I had a set I was trying to put on an sl2 and was having problems, all I had to do was mail everything to them, they wired it up for me and mailed it back. Excellent customer service.
