Williams-Sonoma Classic Striped Towels, Set of 4 (Claret)

I bought these based on the America's Test Kitchen reviews of kitchen towels. There's most certainly a reason they're the most highly rated one. The color options are excellent and the product itself holds up well, is absorbent and functions well as a towel and as a hot pad for multi-tasking in the kitchen.

Williams Sonoma is the best dish towels. I use nothing else. They last a long time

These were not at all like I’ve purchased in the past. The color was off and they were cheaply made. For the price you pay and the quality you expect from William Sonoma it was disappointing. I would not recommend.

Size is very good. It is absorbency. It is easy to use.

I love these towels. They are very absorbent and strong. Make great bar towels. My only problem has been water stains that cannot be removed. The only thing I use these towels for is to wipe dishes dry after washing with Dawn liquid detergent. The plain, straight tap water used for rinsing has produced very dark, dingy areas on all towels. I'm not sure it's a hard water problem as there have never been any crusty lime deposits or anything like that - just a dark charcoal-like residue. When I have left wet, rinsed silverware in a basket to air dry, a black, charcoal-like powder appears in the bottom of that basket. This is what has embedded itself into my towels, and I have been unable to remove it with several cleaning methods (OxyClean, Bleach, Stain Removers, etc.). Update 1-11-2025 The dark dingy areas became so encrusted with whatever is in my tap water that the affected area felt very hard and stiff after laundering - like it was super starched. Eventually, the weave of the cotton in these areas of the towels began to separate farther and farther apart until now there are areas the size of my hand that look like black fishnet. They lasted four years and I still like their performance when new, so I'm ordering another set to replace these.
