Ultra Perfect

This is a wonderful, durable wet grinder. I have had it for a week or so and have already made perfect roti and mint chutney in it - both wonderfully delicious! This appliance is very well made and built to last for a long, long time. If you like ingredients ground with a mortar and pestle, this is the high tech appliance for you! This appliance does some of what you could possibly do in a top of the line blender, but actually GRINDS the ingredients rather than slicing and pulverizing like a blender does. It is also a bit more slow and steady so that you have a lot more control on achieving the texture that you want in your wet mixture. It also will handle a greater volume of product than a blender will handle. Some things, like Indian idlis, would not be as easy to make or turn out exactly appropriately if you attempted to make them in a blender. I absolutely LOVE this wet grinder. I can think of dozens of cooking applications for all kinds of cuisines - Thai, Mexican, etc., as well as the traditional Indian. Also, amazingly, this wet grinder is very easy to clean up after each use. You simply rinse the conical grinding stones and the batters just wash off. And the bowl with the stone bottom is not too heavy at all to lift into the sink to wash. Highly recommend!

It worked for 3 months perfectly. After that it took more time to grind..

Shipping and packaging were perfect. We are using this grinder for 3 times in the last one month no issues. The quality of the grinder is not like the old ultra which we bought in 2000. The grinder locking mechanism (top) while grinding needs to be carefully handled chances are there it can break and you can't use the grinder without fixing it. It looks compact and elegant compared to the old wet grinder. It takes totally an hour for grinding urad dal and rice separately as you use more it might slow a bit.

This is my second from the same brand and I am immensely satisfied with the product. This recent purchase was an upgrade in size (prev 1.25L ) since we entertain a lot (Especially non idli/dosa makers who love it from OUR household :D). There are so many good things that I can rant and rave about but sticking to the eye catchers.Pros:1. Nice basket shaped drum- efficient for urad dal grinding.2. Time efficient- doesn't take long for the whole process.3. Atta kneader gives rest to your hands especially when you haven't used a food processor. (Oh, its a wet grinder which also kneads your dough as a bonus!!)4. Easy handling and more space for pushing the rice/dal when the drum is rolling (because of the design).Cons: (They are not, really)1. Light weight drum- though it is designed to be exactly that, it gives a less sturdy feeling after using the smaller one that felt strong and sturdy (could be an illusion as this performs just fine).2. Pricey- but this brand is known for its quality and there has been no complaint on that aspect!!3. Spatula missing, honestly I am just so used to it!!4. The plastic bush that holds the stones in place gets a bit messy after use is tough to clean without being able to remove it. Have to be content with wiping.I will give this product 5 stars any day as it is quite close to my expectation.

It has been almost 6 months since I am using this, and I use it once a week for making batters. I feel the quality has gone down as it ages(in just 6 months). Of late it has started stopping after running continuously for over 1.15 hours. It is very frustrating.I will have to look at the warranty details to see if they can look into this.

I was searching for something to make perfect masa for tortillas from dent corn, and this appliance does the job! I prepare the nixtamal in the traditional manner, and place it a cup at a time into the already running bowl to which I have added about a cup of water. In about fifteen to twenty minutes, I have nearly two pounds of masa that makes tortillas unlike anything I've ever tasted. Why put all the effort into a great taco or fajita meal, only to rely on store-bought corn tortillas? If you are committed to making as much of your food from scratch as possible, and if you don't relish the task of passing corn through a hand grinder, you need this device.The unit is very heavy and has a quality look and feel. The bottom plate of the bowl is stone, and there are two conical stones on the grinding shaft, which lock into place when the top arm is swiveled and locked into place. The only thing I don't use is the plastic lid on the top because I like to poke around the masa with a long-handled spatula. (Keep you hands out of the way of those stones, of course!) Clean up is easy with cold water and no soap.I will eventually explore other cuisines with this wet grinder, but for now, I'm ecstatic to have perfect tortillas within reach!

This product performance is very worst. It took nearly 2 hours to grind rice. Initially i thought the product may be defective but brand itself different. It is not a "Ultra".. I am having 10 years old ultra grinder, that is even running faster then this. That will take only 20 to 30 minutes to grind.

The Grinder and the parts are not matching ... atta kneader is too small to thisand its running too slow... making noise .. returning this
