GE Wireless Color Digital Home Monitoring Camera LCD Monitor Security Kit 45255

So far I have been very impressed with this little digital monitoring system. Like other reviewers here I had a problem finding the Jasco drivers to allow monitoring via my PC - the installation CD which came in the package provided a link to download the drivers from their website, but when clicked it led to a "page not found" result. I contacted their customer service people by email and they responded within 36 hours with the driver package I needed, and now this monitor works very well with my computer.This camera presents a very clear color picture, and monitoring it on the computer presents a larger, easier to see picture. Especially when more than one camera is in use as I have on my setup. This monitor, and the associated computer monitoring software, does not allow for split screen when only two cameras are in use but instead breaks the screen up into four quadrants, with two of them being blank. On the small monitor screen that results in a very small picture, but not so bad on the computer.The setup process was very easy and well defined in the user booklet which came in the package with the camera and monitor. And I do appreciate the fact the system comes with two AC adapters so separate purchase is not necessary! The camera stand itself is somewhat light and if stability is a problem needs to be weighted down one way or another, or use Velcro tapes on the bottom to hold it in place. One improvement that could be made is in the battery life of the monitor. It will not last for longer than somewhere between 4 to 6 hours. Other than that, I'm very well pleased with the ease of operation, price and picture quality.

This is a very good product that I'd recommend to anyone wanting to video monitor whatever.Before I go into the benefits you should know a few things.The CD that comes with the kit has a PDF file with the instruction for use.However, the main screen that comes up when you use the CD will NOT take you to the correct web site to download the program to hook up the monitor to your computer.I called Jasco Products tech support and the technician emailed me a link to download that program. That link no longer works.I spoke with Jasco tech support today and they are working on the web site to correct the problems. So be patient.The program to use a PC does work, but has some bugs that I hope are soon corrected.The "Pan" function only works when you're in the "Zoom X-2" mode. Then you can use the direction buttons on the monitor to pan left, right, up and down.I wanted to be able to record videos for security purposes, so I ordered the Kingston Digital 16 GB Class 4 microSDHC Flash Card with SD Adapter (SDC4/16GBET) to record videos. That works great.Also I had to order the Transcend Information USB 3.0 Card Reader (TS-RDF5K) to transfer the videos to my PC in the event that I needed to give a copy of a video to the police. The reader works great, too.The videos are in AVI format.By the way, the camera is not water proof. I mounted mine on a porch that is covered with a roof.If you plan on mounting the camera outside where the rain and snow will fall it it, I recommend making some sort of a protective enclosure to keep out the water allowing the camera to safely point out to where you want it.It's was great being able to take the monitor off of the charging stand and carry it with me when I set up the camera outside and when I'm not able to answer the door I can see and talk to whomever is at my door.So if you're thinking of getting this kit, do so and you should be pleased with it.

I think this was a great buy. The camera is very clear. Lasts awhile without charging and the sound is loud and since I use it as a baby monitor I can hear her breathing perfectly. And if you need to speak to speak to someone near the camera you can speak thru the monitor. Oh and also it alerts you when someone is getting close to the camera. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because it makes a sketchy fan sound once in a while. But over all I would buy this again and recommend it to my friends.

**UPDATE-May 2017** After using this monitor for only 1 year, the battery is shot. It only lasts 1.5 hours off of the base unit. I find this unacceptable! I called customer service with GE who told me that there wasn't anything they could do - I have had it more than 1 year and there are no replacement parts. So....I paid $200 for this plus an extra camera and it only lasted 1 year. I will never purchase a GE product again. Piece of crap.May 2016:We purchased this to use as a baby monitor when our previous video monitor was discontinued and we needed an additional camera. First, the price is fantastic. Other baby monitors are twice the price simply because they are marketed as baby monitors. I had both camera installed within minutes of opening the box. Very simple to use! The picture quality is great and it has all the basic functionality any parent would need. I highly recommend.

This is the best purchase we have made, my father is sick and we bought this for him , but only after waiting our time and money buying a baby monitor ( voice only) , don't waist your time like we did , if your buying for a baby or a adult , or what ever u need this for .....it's worth it. Any other model that compares to this one is $199 , way over priced .....this is amazing and works better that I could have ever guessed. The Vedic feed is clear and our house is a ranch style ( it's very long and we have no problems ) we can hear my dad speak normally , he does not have to yell or even strain to talk , it's great ....we sit this 5 ft away from him ( bedside ) and it great , we can even see his chest rise and fall as he breaths, I would recommend this to anyone for inside your home. No matter if this is for a baby ,adult or security .....it's a great price for a great system
