EDELRIDHMS Bulletproof Locking Carabiner - Screwgate Slate

I am a coach and instructor at the local climbing gym, so my gear gets lots of use. I also climb over 200 climbs outside every year.Because of wear, I've had to frequently replace aluminum carabiners used for belaying and rappeling with an ATC, as well as in a Quad anchor setup.I'd switched to steel carabiners in this application, but they are quite heavy, so the bulletproof carabiners save a lot of weight.The screwgate is very smooth and appears to be manufactured with tighter tolerances than other screwgate carabiners I've used.The spring loaded wire keeps the carabiner from getting cross loaded. An unexpected benefit comes from the thickness of the main spine, which is too big to allow a Grigri to slide up and cross load the biner.My only complaint is they are expensive, but cheaper than replacing aluminum carabiners every year due to wear.

This has become my standard belay biner whether I am using it in concert with a gri-gri, or a more standard ATC type of device. Obviously the steel insert feature is much more critical when using an ATC, since the rope contact surface is against the underside of the upper part of the biner, and this is where the friction will begin to wear grooves in a standard aluminum one. When using a gri-gri it is less important because the rope friction is wholly applied against the surface of the device and does not contact the biner. Other than that the lever device at the base allows you to clip it in to the belay loop confident that it won’t walk or twist, thus simplifying the procedure. Just the right size, and not too heavy either, this is the best belay biner that I have ever used!

I am not a climber. I bought it to secure my keys on my person. I can lock it on my belt loop and also secure the keys in additional inner clip. Expensive for this purpose but secures very important keys. I will use it for the remainder of my days on planet earth.

Working with youth on Ropes courses is a high-distraction environment - and I'm in and out of belays all day long. I can't afford to let a moment of distraction let me forget to lock a carabiner. This device does it all -- it has the wear-resistance of our steel carabiners with the weight of aluminum. The tri-action autolock gate helps me ensure the device is securely locked no matter how crazy things get.True, it is not a general-purpose carabiner. But it's perfect for belaying. I never head to the rock or the ropes course without it.

I've used this to belay with a GriGri and ATC with no issues. I love the steel insert to help with wear/tear and of course belay loop clip to help eliminate cross loading. The clip is triple action and IMO just helps with keeping it secure but I know some climbers prefer something simpler.

I've been using this carabineers for several months now, and absolutely love it. The steel inlay should provide me with years of service from this device. The workmanship is nothing less than I would expect from Edelrid

The twistlock is great, the cross-load-preventer thing is fine (I prefer bd's), and the steel insert means it will probably last forever. It costs a bunch of money but it's probably more cost effective than burning up an aluminum every year or two if you rappel / lower a lot.

Have rappelled several thousand feet on this carabiner and can barely tell.. that's a win in my book. Aluminum would have very noticably been worn by now. Have a pile of aluminum carabiners that were ruined rather quickly..

This is an excellent, top of the line belay 'biner. I have got through loads from petzl, Grivel etc etc, but this is an incredibly well engineered bit of kit and is now my default. Pay a little more, and you will Never need to get another one

Es de buen tamaño y color bonitos. Es ligero por ser de aluminio en gran parte y resistente por tener el refuerzo de acero justo en la zona de mas desgaste. Como punto negativo ya noto desgaste pese a haberlo utilizado en tres o cuatro rapeles con el megaJul. Ademas, al ser aluminio ne la parte superior, el metal del megaJul deja muescas en el aluminio. Creo que aun puede mejorar el diseño pero me parece buena compra, aunque un poquito caro

Ich weiss nicht so recht, was ich von dem Karabiner halten soll.Die Zeit wird zeigen ob der Karabiner die Mehrkosten wert ist. (ob er länger hält als meine günstigeren).Ja toll verarbeitet und hochwertig ist er ja, aber das sind ja eigentlich alle Karabiner von Edelried.

Funktioniert alle wunderbar auch mit dem Klipp das er sich beim sichern nicht verdreht, wie langlebig der Karabiner durch den Stahl Einsatz ist wird sich erst zeigen ich kann nur sagen das ich bisher noch keinerlei Abnutzungserscheinungen überhaupt sehe.
