LG WH16NS60 16x Internal Blu-ray BDXL M-Disc Drive (with Ultra HD 4K Playback) Bundle with 100GB Verbatim M-Disc BDXL,Cyberlink and Cable

I bought this drive so that I could play and/or rip 4K Blu-ray. It turned out something about my computer didn't make the Blu-ray player software that it came with happy, so I couldn't play some of those movies. But I was able to flash different firmware onto the drive which allowed me to rip them and play them on my computer without the copy protection.

Rolled back the firmware and works great for 4k

I used UHD Drive tool from dvdfab.cn to take the firmware down to 1.00. I am now able to rip 4K disk with MAKEMKV and use them on my plex/emby server. Although I had to put the drive in and older computer with IDE SATA configuration to re-firmware the drive. Then put it in my new computer and it works great Rip a 4K disk in about 45 min.

I have an ASUS Rampage V motherboard with a 7-6800K processor. I am using Windows 10 which is updated. I installed the LG WH16NS60 drive and it does not work on my computer. I search the internet and found that this is a common problem. There are about 7 fixes and I faithfully followed all the recommendations. The recommendation ranges from removing the drive on the device manager to changes in the registry. The last suggestion was changing the driver cable and using a different SATA port. Unfortunately, I still have a drive that is not recognized on my Cyberlink Media Suite 16 software. After calling LG their solution was to send the drive back. I am in the process of sending the drive back to Amazon.

FULLY processing UHD movie discs Mine arrived Sunday, I gave it a little love and attention Processed a few movies Ordered a second one..

I put it in an external enclosure and plugged it in installed the included software and it works fine.

I have bought 6 of these drives ALL DOA purchased from amazon & fry's electronics & retail boxed lg WH16NS60 after much research i found that this drive takes special software to play 4K UHD ver 1.01 is a DEAD DRIVE do like i did go out and buy a 4K UHD component player 4K UHD CABLES from 4K UHD Tv to blu-ray component player LG Model WH16NS60 i wasted $700.00 on these drives that i now use as paperweights.............. i have the proper horsepower SAMSUNG 82" QLED HYPER SMART UHD TV INTEL I-9 9980XE 24 CORE CPU EVGA NVIDIA 2080 RTX 8GB GDDR5 CORSAIR VENGENANCE DDR4 -3200MHZ 32GB 5 WESTERN DIGITAL 4TB BLACK TOTAL 20TB HDD SPACE 1000 WATT KLIPSCH THX DOLBY ATMOS SPEAKERS and STILL cannot get i SIMPLE OPTICAL DRIVE TO WORK
