GREAT BOOK - BUY IT NOW. SERIOUSLY.
Quite simply, this is one of the best textile books I have read in a very long time (I am old and I have read hundreds of books). While the book is almost exclusively technique-driven, the book also includes 3 projects which utilize many techniques from the book. The techniques are simple but are extremely effective. All of the techniques described in this book use readily available materials or ones that can be purchased for a small amount of money. Additionally, because you are working on small projects, you do not need a huge studio space to try the painting techniques. The author’s suggestion to use trash bags to protect the workspace is genius (I use cheap plastic drop cloths or cheap shower curtains but trash bags would be perfect!!).This book also “feels” different than American textile books. Very fresh, great color palettes for the projects and the book layout itself. One tip: the book suggests using dishwasher salt with some of the painting techniques. While dishwasher salt is not very commonly found in America, kosher salt and/or ice cream salt and be used as substitutions.

gorgeous photography
I was eying this book for so long, hoping it was as good as the sample pages I was able to see on screen. it is better! I like the way many examples are given of the same sort of project but different ways of completing it. I also wanted to learn more about painting and dyeing my own fabric. It's always difficult to find just the right colour and this book serves that purpose very well for me.

Great Book
As the name suggest these Art Quilts are on the small size 8 inches by 11 inches, but there is nothing stopping you from making them any size you want. The book does explain why these Art Quilts are small. The Book is filled from cover to cover with one hundred and forty three pages of "Eye Candy!" Sorry colorful photographs. There are also tips throughout the book which are very helpful. Two step by step projects with lots more photographs as well as written instructions. Seven pages of FULL size templates, so no frustrating moments with your computer trying to size the templates. (Which always puts me off using other templates.) There is both hand and machine embroidery ideas and techniques, plus which paints to use and which paint Deborah prefers. The book takes you page by page through all the steps of making an Art Quilt from materials to display and finished. As Deborah says in her introduction "Learning is an ongoing process" and with the book you will learn so much and more. The book gives you the inspiration to create your own works of Art, whether you are just starting out on your own creative path, or you are already further along down the road. There is something for everyone with an interest in painting, cloth, stitching and quilting.I have been lucky enough to attend one or two of Deborah's workshops. Now having her book by my side I am confident I will be painting, stitching and making many more Art Quilts. Deborah's Book won't be going on my book shelf as I know I will be using it day after day!

Great Book for making small Quilts
I liked the book instantly. However have not worked with it yet, from reading it twice, it is easy to follow the instructions. And the samples are beautiful, I am eager to start with it after Christmas. Certainly worth its money.
