Rain Bird ESP9V1 Controller - 1 Zone

It's been a few years since I had to replace the solenoid but this unit has performed great. Easy to program and easy to install. Unfortunately these have become very pricey over the past years but are a must if you don't have AC power. I particularly like that it works on one or two 9-volt batteries, extending the time between changes. Large readout is easy to read. While it lacks bluetoth or wifi connectivity, it is still a solid unit.

Wholesale Sprinkler Parts was great, it arrived early and price was very good. They even had a slip in box with employee to call or email if you have any problems. This unit works SO MUCH EASIER than the HUNTER brand controller stuck in bottom of a valve box so you have to get on the ground and requires you to get out the Hunter manual to remind yourself how to change a program. The Rainbird is very easy and intuitive to program, and I was able to mount on side of house using standard speaker wire extension instead of having to retrieve it from a valve box each time. I needed it to control a 9th zone with a latch solenoid valve quite a distance from Wi-fi Main Controller. I did not need the WiFi 9 V controller for this 1 zone. 9 V batteries should give approx. 2 yr. life. Works like a charm.

Purchased two of these 1” valves along with rainbirds K80920 battery version latching solenoids to use where no electricity or control wires could be run. The replacement solenoids screw right on. So far very impressed with operation. I prefer irritrol valves generally because they’re easy to rebuild but these are great and rebuild kits easy to find. The controllers I purchased are rainbird ESP9V1’s. No leaks or problems. I like how the included controller mount allows you to just snap the controller on top of the valve/solenoid yet easily removed if needed.

Only when I tried to install it I found out it’s not compatible with existing 24v AC sprinkler controller. Overall I don’t think it has any issue, but I still have to return it. BTW, for a short moment when I tried to prepare the installation, I did try to install the batteries. It’s not easy to push in two 9v batteries back to back into a single tube. Let alone taking it out. I think they should improve this design.

Glad I purchased this timer. It would not work until I purchased a new solenoid for the valve that was compatible with this timer. The solenoid cost around $40.

My Rainbird 6 station controller had 2 stations that were not working. Had landscaper give me an estimate and said a wire was broke and gave a $300 plus estimate to repair. Bought this and the solenoid way shipper and worked great.

Love this! Needed battery powered controller to automate irrigation on our garden where we don't have electricity. Works great and easy to set up.

Ottima centralina per irrigare il giardino, facile e veloce l'installazione....unica " difficoltà " istruzioni solo in inglese....per fortuna avevo già pratica della versione precedente...Conviene acquistare da subito anche la valvola a solenoide...che spesso si deteriora.
