I’ve been using this Revlon ColorSilk Black for 3 years, and I truly don’t see myself ever switching to anything else. I'm naturally a dark blonde, and no one believes me when I say it, this dye gives me the deepest, richest black that looks completely natural and dimensional, not flat or blue-tinted like other boxed dyes I've tried in the past. Application is super easy and only takes one round to fully cover my roots. It gives me 100% gray coverage (even when my regrowth is obvious) and blends perfectly without needing to overlap previous color. The best part? My hair still feels healthy, soft, and shiny afterward, which is honestly rare for drugstore permanent dyes. I know hair dressers says black box dye is the devil, but I've gone to Sally's and tried all the swartzkopf and the other brands and the other stuff people recommend. NONE - has beaten the PRICE or the RESULT. I’ve traveled with this, done it myself at home, and even used it before on-location shoots, it always delivers. It doesn’t stain my scalp (if im careful haha) or make my hair feel brittle. The color LASTS without fading and gives a polished, sleek look every time. This works so well! Very happy with the results every time, and this is such a money saver vs going to a salon. I have pesky, bright-white strands coming in that really stand out against my dark brown hair. This makes them completely disappear and looks so natural. I also LOVE the conditioner. It leaves my hair feeling washed and so soft.

Superior hair dye. The only brand I use. The soft black is not harsh, it can color over any brilliant color imaginable and it does not fade out like so many other dyes can. Leaves my hair soft and shiny. Cannot beat the price!

This is my go-to at-home hair dye, and I’ve been using it for a while now. The Natural Blue Black shade comes out rich and vibrant, and it really does cover grays completely, even the stubborn ones around the hairline. I love that it’s ammonia-free, and it doesn’t leave my hair feeling dry or damaged, especially with the bond repair complex and vegan keratin included. The color lasts a good few weeks, and I don’t notice major fading between washes. It also has a softer scent compared to other drugstore dyes, which makes the process more tolerable. That said, it does stain skin and surfaces pretty easily, so definitely apply some barrier cream or Vaseline around the hairline and wear old clothes when using it. Once you know to prep, it’s manageable, but it’s worth noting for first-timers. Overall, it’s a reliable, affordable option for at-home coloring with salon-level gray coverage. I always keep a box (or three) on hand.
