Product description Emmer is the ancient ancestor of modern wheat. It is known as farro medium, or commonly as farro, in Italy. The Egyptians produced Emmer as a primary crop. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Roman general Julius Caesar favored Emmer above all other types of wheat. Directions Cook like rice: Bring 2 cups of water to a boil, add 1 cup of farro, reduce heat, cover, and let it simmer for 25-30 minutes until tender. Review: I love farro so much, but really prefer the whole grain version over pearled or semi-pearled. I know, I know - it takes sooo much longer to cook but it is sooo worth it! The nutty, chewy texture is delicious, and I use this grain for a bunch of dishes that I might otherwise use rice or quinoa for. Cannot beat the quantity and quality of this product. Review: This is just as the reviews I read said--an excellent product. It arrived quickly and in perfect shape. The Emmer is lovely, and very clean, with a delicious taste and I love that it is a whole grain. I will grind some for flour, but it cooks up as a grain well and will be very versatile. It was delicious hot with just a little butter and salt, made a great burrito filling when sauteed with the appropriate spices, and was awesome as a cold salad mixed with cherry tomatoes, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pepitas, green onions and olive oil. I soaked the grains overnight and cooked until al dente--the grains were chewy, yet tender, and I know I am getting all the goodness of the whole grain. It's a lot of delicious nutrition.

We made fresh banana bread with these grains. Great quality! Fantastic health benefits if consumed within days of milling. Will purchase again!

I'm new to fresh the miller grains but I am in love with Emmer! It makes a wonderful addition to my freshly milled flour and also makes a great cream of wheat.

In efforts to eat more natural, "real" food, we bought these ancient grain wheat berries. We do not have a flour grinder/mill necessarily, but we blended the berries to make flour and that worked fine. We enjoyed making hearty, dense bread out of these wheat berries. The bag went pretty quickly even using half emmer wheat flour and half another flour. Will purchase again.
