Pinhigh 5lb 80 grit Reel Sharpening Compound

Hands-down the best back-lapping compound I’ve ever used! This 5 lb bucket will literally last me years. I run a John Deere 220SL greens mower on my bermuda front yard and a McLane for the backyard. I back-lap at least three times per growing season (after spring scalp, mid-summer, and early fall). I just brush a thin layer of the PinHigh 80-grit straight onto the reel with a disposable brush and backlap away. Even with three full backlappings per year on two different mowers, I’ve had this 5 lb bucket for two full seasons now and I’m still not even 30% through it. At this rate it’ll easily last me 5 years or more. Why it’s perfect: 80 grit cuts fast enough to knock down nicks and restore the edge in minutes, but still leaves a scary-sharp finish on both the 11-blade JD and the 7-blade McLane Works fantastic and washes away clean with a garden hose. Doesn’t clump or separate in the bucket even after sitting all winter One or two light coats is all you need for a complete lapping session If you back-lap your own reels like I do, stop buying those tiny overpriced jars every year. I purchased this to backlap my McClane 25" reel mower. Need to tarp down everything, because this makes a mess. I used 80 grit for about 5 mins, then used the 120 grit version. The final product was fantastic and the first cut felt like a dream. Very satisfied. I would imagine I have enough product to do 30-40 backlaps.

Worked great. Bought both grits. Used ruff then fine. Cut paper like butter.

Backlapped my Tru-Cut with the 80 grit and refined the edge with the 120 grit. Both worked as expected, cleanup is quick and easy - just hose it off. If it helps, I set the reel to Bedknife spacing at 0.003" and that worked well with both grits. After cleaning up, I reset the reel to bedknife to 0.002" and the mower cut like sharp scissors. This two-year based grinding compound is highly recommended!

This is my 2nd order of this product. I have 3 reel mowers that i maintain and this compound works great to sharpen.
