Rust-Oleum 2X Automotive Enamel Custom Spray 5-in-1 Spray Paint, 12 oz, Gloss Black

I had a section of my trunk's paint starting to crack and flake off for some reason, and I just wanted to stop that from continuing, and cover up what had already come off. I'm no professional painter, and I was definitely not going for perfection with this touch up on the trunk, just a good enough appearance was fine for me. That said, my process was far from proper, yet I think I still achieved a pretty great looking result! I started by peeling and cracking off the loose pieces of paint up to a point where it was still mostly adhering to the body. I didn't sand anything down however, and I didn't even really clean it (it rained recently so, that works right?). The directions state to shake the can for about a minute, so I did that. They also state to hold the can about 10-16 inches away from the surface, and use a consistent back and forth sweeping motion to cover the area. Since I'm doing such a small spot, this didn't really work for me. I used the #3 spray option, held it about 5 inches away, and pulse sprayed little sections until it was covered. I let it dry for an hour, then did a very light second layer. After letting that dry for a about a day, I looked at it, thought it was looking pretty good but it needed another layer, and maybe I could improve the edges more. I peeled off some excess paint that was sticking up and used a nail file (lol) to try and bring down the edges some. At this point I decided to take the first picture in this review (I should have taken one from the start but I just didn't plan on documenting and reviewing at first). I then applied layer #3, and a day later took the second pic. This is as far as I've gotten, but as you can see, it's looking even better now! I think one more layer will be all it needs, plus a clear gloss layer I'll do after that. No it won't be perfect (especially upon close inspection), but again, I'm just going for a "good enough" result, and in my opinion, this very much exceeds that. For how effortless this was overall, I couldn't be happier. This is a great product!

The nozzle options on this spray paint are pretty useful, and it matches the worn out paint of 17 year old car pretty well.

This is your basic every day automotive white paint. WARNING....This spray can comes with a multi discharge spray settings. Try the settings out first. If you use the wrong setting the paint will spit and you will get a textured result that will look and feel like textured sheetrock. I ended up using the number one setting which worked fine. Also, read the directions about letting the paint dry between layers. I applied the second coat within 15 minutes of the first layer and it took a day and a half and a heat gun to get it to dry.

Honestly great product for being a rattle can. Had some issues with clogging, but with more wiping of rhe tip and making sure to start and end strokes appropriately made a difference. Bumper looks better not cracked, so can't complain.
