I make my own vanilla extract, so I need very good quality vanilla beans. I just cut them in half, to expose the inside, and put them in a decorative bottle. Then I use good quality bourbon or vodka, pouring to cover the vanilla beans. Shake the bottle every day and in about a month, you'll have excellent vanilla extract. With 12 beans, you can make 2 bottles of extract.

This is my first time using this brand of vanilla beans, They were drier than my previous brand (which made them easier to work with). I was concerned that they did not smell as strong but they have already added an excellent scent to my homemade vanilla essence.
