As an ingredient-conscious mom with kids who would live on slushies if I let them, the Ninja Slushi has been a total win in our house. My kids get the fun, colorful, ice-cold treats they love, and I get the peace of mind of knowing exactly what’s going into their cups. I love being able to use real fruit, simple juices, and ingredients I actually recognize instead of the mystery syrups you get elsewhere. The texture comes out perfectly smooth every time, and the kids think I’m some kind of slushie wizard now. It’s quick, easy to clean, and honestly one of the best little kitchen gadgets we’ve added—fun for them, and guilt-free for me. If you’re picky about ingredients but still want to make treats your kids get excited about, this is absolutely worth it.

If you want to make literally any liquid into a slushie, this is your item. If you think you will use it once or twice and then keep it on your counter for a few months before you find a place alongside the other pandemic kitchen gadgets, you're probably right. If you're okay with both of these things, it is a really really good device for making tasty frozen-ish treats. We have made fraps, juice slushes, frozen cola, milkshakes, and countless other things from the recipe book and they have all come out fantastic and very quickly. There is a mix of sugar and fat content that you need to achieve to make successful slushies, but the recipe book breaks it down pretty well, and there are tons of reddit posts with tips and tricks on how to make great refreshments. Our most used function was pouring in a jug of fruit juice and hitting go. Once you've served it all, it's as easy as running some hot water through the little loading window, pouring it out the front, and taking it apart and wiping all the surfaces down. The only reason I docked the review one star is because if you use any fruit juice with any color, the clear tank will take on that color. I have washed this since the start the way it says to and have tried every trick in the book to remove that tint, but it's still there. It doesn't affect the functionality in any way, but seeing that tint is more annoying than it should be.

Realize this is a new product line from Ninja, but wish I had something like this from the start, from the first slushie machines I've purchased for the house. Each one has done exactly what we wanted them to do, but so many things this Ninja provides that others have not. We've made 2 items with this, fruit punch and milk shake, simply following the directions. So, let's start with the unboxing. Unboxing was easy, my wife described unboxing easy, she pulled top cover off and the machine was still sitting on the table. Typical special edition game box, cut the seals on the edges and the outer cardboard slips off and the box structure is sitting on the table still. Made it easy to unbox. Putting together was simple, she is not very mechanically or electrically inclined when it comes to putting appliances together, but this she had no problems with, between looking at the pieces and reading the instructions. Spot on. This takes up some counter space, one of the pictures provided. It is not very wide, but very long, but it fits in our coffee area counter. So far, for cleaning, we have not had to move this around to get pieces on and off in cleanup and preparation for next batch of goodness. I have an old ICEE slushy machine, and a Hawaiian Shaved Ice machine. In both of these, these make great products, but the time and effort is astronomical, you end up spending more work than product afterwards. Unless the occasion hits, we don't use them often, however, we do like displaying them for the brand logos, some nostalgia. This, however, the easy, lack of complexity to get from step 1 to step 2 to final product, makes the price so worth while. Instructions and one button shopping on this, you just have a little bit of time to wait as the machine itself does all the work. On the ICEE, I have to add shaved ice, lots of salt, sit and wait for it to crush and freeze, and at the right temperature, remove and mix ingredients to get the slushy, then wait for it to refreeze as a slushy before final product. This requires none of that. The fact my wife made a double batch of fruit punch on the first night, then last night decided to try milk shakes speaks of the ease and usefulness of this machine and technology. This makes some noise. It's not loud, but in a quiet kitchen it is noticeable. With music in the background, it's not bad noise, but you know the machine is on and working. Working, when we ran out of goodness, we cleaned and put back together for next use, we didn't have to move the machine around, unless we were sloppy and spilled. So, in place, this was fairly simple to use and cleanup. The goodness produced, the slushy, is great. Not outstanding, but great, but dependent on what you want and what your expectations are. For me, it was great, definitely worth the cost of the machine, coupled with ease of use, cleaning, reusability. For my grandkids in the house, can't replace those smiles, they were ecstatic on the results, and both want to learn how to use the machine to make there own. Young, pre teens, but they are already learning to cook basics, this is on their list. The fruit punch tasted great, but really salty, part of the freezing process. But again, I don't use outside salts in food preparation, so even a little salt is noticeable. Slushy inside the machine, pouring, add straw to the cup, this is easy, good consistency with a slushy. However, upon starting to thaw, this became very thick and turned into more of a Hawaiian ice topping than slushy. Constant stirring to break up. Still very good. For the milkshake, this turned out more like Frappuccino drink than a milkshake, but the babies were alright with this, what they are used to. They wanted more. On thawing as you were drinking, this did not thaw the same thickness as the fruit punch, this became a little more milky, easier to such through a straw. Not the foamy milkshake, but very happy with the product. Next weekend, we are going to try and margarita mix and see how that works. This is a great product, very expensive, but from what it does, what it makes, the time in use...very long durations, ease of putting together, taking apart, cleaning, this is worth the pretty penny it cost. We have a few Ninja products in our kitchen, hit or miss, but for the Ninjas, these overall tend to be great products, and long lasting. We just replaced a Ninja juicer not too long ago. Seems we couldn't find that product line anymore, it was so old, so we had to go with another replacement Ninja along the same lines. We didn't realize we'd had that Ninja juicer for so long. Price well paid for longevity and use. Hopefully this looks to last as long. Lots of moving pieces, big piece of machinery, but the end game is this product line is outstanding. You pay heavy price for a Ninja, but from our perspective and the few pieces we've bought, they hold up well. We are very pleased with this product, Amazon shipped same day we bought, ordered early morning, got it by afternoon, and when the kids got home from school, they had fruit punch slushies. One of the easiest machines to use for the product it gives. Not that commercial machine, I've used a few slushie machines in coffee shops before, but for home use, this is the next best thing. I highly recommend, especially for those hot days. In Southern Florida, that's just about every day.
