Now I want to order all of this author and illustrator’s saint books. Very appropriate story to help my grandson, Felix, understand more about the saint he is dressing up for on All Saints’ Day. Thank you. Review: Delightful and unique - We enjoyed this book so much that we decided to order more as Christmas gifts. It's so hard to find books to give that you know the recipient doesn't already own. This book is newly published and Saint Felix is a lesser known saint which we thought made it a unique gift, one that probably wouldn't already be on our loved ones' shelves. This saint's story is the simple story of a man of faith escaping persecution but Mrs. Jackson tells it with the charm of an Old World storyteller. The watercolor illustrations are bright and lovely and my children enjoyed searching for and studying Miss Kadar-Kallen's favorite bird buddies who were included in every illustration (according to the end notes). Highly recommend it for the saint and nature lovers in your life.

Darling book
This story is the wonderful tale of a saint and a faithful friend, a spider. The story is told in a delightful manner and the illustrations are so beautiful -- such attention to details. And the illustrator, a bird lover, places a different bird on each page. My 11-year-old daughter, also a bird lover, enjoyed pointing out and identifying (or trying to) each bird. This is a great book to keep and pull out each January for St. Felix's feast day, January 14.

Beautiful Watercolor Illustrations
I'd heard of "O Felix Culpa!" ("O Happy Fault!"), and Felix Unger of "The Odd Couple" (There's also a heart specialist named Felix Unger), but I had never heard of St. Felix until I saw this book on here. When I learned that there really was a spider involved in the Saint's life, my interest was piqued, I had to get this book based on his life. This is a children's book, though maybe not for the smallest children, as St. Felix was fleeing persecution. Children and adults alike will enjoy looking at the beautiful watercolor illustrations by Lydia Grace Kadar-Kallen. The story by Dessi Jackson will keep children (and adults who don't know the story of St. Felix) reading along. The night before I received this book, a guy at work felt a sting and thought he had been bitten by a spider. When I've been bitten by a spider, I've suddenly developed an ability to spin webs which I use to fly between buildings. I've also developed a desire to fight crime, battling the Green Goblin and Rhino (not Republican In Name Only). These things required me to cut back my hours as a photographer for The Daily Bugle. ... ... Oh wait, I'm confusing myself with Peter Parker.

Delightful
Such an endearing story, except wiki has a diff. ending of his life. Also, the spider scenario is also told in a Christmas story by an EWTN author of a children's book...

Nice!
A nice book all around, telling the legend of St. Felix and the spider who hid him from soldiers by weaving a large web across a cave opening. The art is done by a young newcomer and is pretty good all around; some of the backgrounds are simple but overall everything is bright and vibrant. Still, it's great to see picture books on the non-traditional saints out there and I hope there are more to come! I liked this book and am glad to have it... but I have to add that I have a slight preference for Dessi Jackson's other one: "The Saint and his Bees" all around. Wish it came in hardback!

Sweet & Heartwarming
This story loosely based on St. Felix the patron Saint of spiders is a heartwarming story of a spider kicked out of her home and a man she encounters in a cave. Your child will be delighted by this sweet story about this little known saint. Great as a confirmation gift or to enrich your child's understanding about the lives of the saints.
