Lady Bird [DVD]

I bought this as a used product and it came in great condition, the dvd works well. It's also one of my favourite films.

Irish actress Saoirse Rohan is very accomplished and funny with a quirky sense of humour that delights and amuses. Ladybird by Greta Gerwig is directed with just the right touch to fully engage the audience in this girl's transition from teenager to emerging womanhood with warmth, panache, and style. Highly recommended to everyone, especially parents and grandparents.

Main character played by an Irish actress. Very good film. Seen this on tv so knew it was good . Thought id get the dvd so i can watch again. It is a good story and of a fictional lifes drama. Different perspectives of the characters centres on friendship love family experimentation as teenagers drugs sex and making decisions going into adulthood. Ultimately about growing up and becoming a lady. For all ages from 15 up.

Greta Gerwig's first true masterpiece, put her and Saoirse Ronan on the map and in my opinion the film I would have picked to win Best Picture 2017. The behind the scenes featurette is also wholesome!

I usually enjoy films with Saoirse in but this one just wasn’t as good, and I was really looking forward to seeing this. Ok positives, I really liked the side characters, Christines family, even her brothers girlfriend, her ‘best friend’, which leads me into my main negative, as I got further into the film I would have preferred to follow them instead. Yes Christine is a young hormonal teen and makes mistakes, but her over the top decisions and reactions were a bit annoying. Also was Timothee’s character meant to be a brooding geek without being interesting? Conclusion, I wouldn’t watch this again, but the side characters really held this film together for me and kept my interest, they earned my three stars. Disappointed in this, which makes me hesitant to even try Little Women which is another I was interested in watching by the same director.

One of my favourite films of 2017. Greta Gerwig's directorial debut is a wondrous coming-of-age story with a fantastic lead performance from Saoirse Ronan, who is flawless in the titular lead. I loved it.

This sounded like a good film so decided to buy it, was delivered quickly and had no problems except that I didn’t really enjoy the film. It was ok but left me feeling sad. I think it triggered something in my subconscious.

Einer der besten Filme über das Erwachsen werden. Dazu kommt noch ein feiner Blick auf das Mutter-Tochter Verhältnis. Der größte Trumpf von Lady Bird dabei ist der Charme der Figuren und natürlich das Schauspiel. Aber auch die Feinheiten stimmen, von den Dialogen, über das Drehbuch, Kamera, bis hin zum sehr guten Soundtrack, gibt es wenig was bei diesem Film nicht deutlich besser gelungen ist, als bei vielen anderen. Einige Szenen sind überraschend für den Zuschauer und den ganzen Film über, gelingt es die Geschichte mit einem Augenzwinkern und einem unaufdringlichen, feinen Humor zu erzählen. Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf, Tracy Letts, Beanie Feldstein um nur einige zu nennen, bieten ein tolles Schauspiel und sind mitverantwortlich, für die zahlreichen Preise und 5 Oscar Nominierungen. Es wird natürlich wieder einige Leute geben die genau diesen Film absolut langweilig finden, zu wenig Sex, keine Gewalt, keine Toten und auch keine Verfolgungsjagden. Was die Erzählung einer Geschichte betrifft, welche noch dazu universell ausfällt, gibt es nur wenige Filme die es schaffen so unaufgeregt und charmant zu unterhalten. Greta Celeste Gerwig ist mit Ihrer ersten Regie und Ihrem 7ten Drehbuch einiges gelungen, was den meisten Regisseuren in vielen Jahrzehnten nicht gelingt. Sie hat eine Geschichte erzählt die sich auf eine ganz leise und unaufdringliche Weise, in die Herzen der Zuschauer schleicht. Das dieser Film auch kommerziell so erfolgreich war, finde ich klasse, nach wie vor gibt es auch für gute Filme ein Publikum.
