Guitar Fretboard: Memorize The Fretboard In Less Than 24 Hours: 35+ Tips And Exercises Included : Head, Guitar: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: A necessity for a Beginner - I am a complete beginner in my guitar journey and I was very sceptical about buying this as I’m not very good at understanding things from reading as I’m more of a visual kind of learner (YouTube) but I’ve gotten half way through this book and I’ve gone from knowing nothing about the fretboard to having a basic understanding of how the fretboard works and It feels so satisfying for me to accomplish this. I read through the book in small chunks to get a better understanding and even after reading a section I would go and mull it over like test myself without the book in front of me to see if I was correct, I’m not afraid to say I did go back into the book to check my answers. Don’t get me wrong I still have to think about where notes are on the fretboard but I’m sure after using the guitar more I will become more fluent. Overall I would highly recommend this book to a complete beginner who is interested in knowing and learning more into their guitar journey. Review: Simple but effective - This book does a great job at helping you understand the fret part better, with some simple hints and tips at how to locate each note on the guitar. In the back there are some exercises you can do to help your note location. Overall the book is great however the format seems too simple in places and the games in the back can be hard to follow. I assure you, you will need longer than 24 hours to full memorise the fretboard, but this book does help. Good purchase overall, but lacking in places to get 5 stars

Does the job
An easy read, no filler, not too heavy on the theoretical side but covers everything that you need to know to learn the fretboard. I watched a few YouTube videos first so had a decent idea going in of what to expect. But this book is definitely the way to go to learn in a more methodical way. A surprisingly easy task to learn the fretboard so the book lives up to its title.

Very useful
It did what it said, I now know e and a string notes. I'm working through the rest of the book. I found it useful to learn in bite size chunks rather than all in one go. The way my brain works I retain the info better and make sense of it. The rhymes useful, goat ate bag (E string) : (A string) c chord lives on 3rd floor (fret). Cat on 3rd, dog on the 5th, elephant on the 7th, and giraffe on the 9th due to its long neck. Very easy to memorise for me. Now to make sense of it all when applying to barre chords. Thank you

Good book
Not as easy to understand as professed, or it might just be me.

Wow!! Simply, Wow!!
I, like I am sure, many, took the opportunity of lockdown to finally learn the dusty guitar that can be found sitting in the corner of every living room around the world. As a self confessed obsessive, I put hours into callus building, chords and scales and progressed reasonably well. But, could I get my head around the fretboard? No! No matter what I tried it failed. In fact, at one point, I’m convinced my missus thought I was Jack from the Shining with all the fretboard diagrams around the house (spoiler - the all work and no play scene!). Then before heading to bed last night and in utter desperation I downloaded this book. If I tell you it took me 20 mins this morning to learn the fretboard, I can imagine you’d roll your eyes and scream ‘gimmick’ - well get eye rolling! I do attach two small caveats though ... Firstly, I do have some good grounding in musical theory (i.e. I now how it roughly works - not that you need it for this book) and secondly I think memorise is a little generous, but can I quickly locate any note and ergo, key? Yes definitely, and in time I’m sure I will completely have the fretboard suitably committed to memory! Absolutely worth the £3.00 I spent, a real no brainer if you want to learn that pesky fretboard. Right, off to sharpen my ‘axe’ (Real guitarists - do you like what I did there?) ....... “Wendy .... I’m home! ...”

A Good Approach to the Fretboard
If you want to improve your knowledge of the notes on the guitar, you will like and benefit from using this book. The methods in this book are sound and will improve the skills of those who have never heard of them before, such as the 'L Rule', 'Reverse L Rule' and the 'Unison Rule' (Which are similar to the root notes of the CAGED System). Their is a bit of everything in this book to help a budding guitarist learn the notes on the guitar fretboard. I thought that there was going to be something in this book that would add to my fretboard knowledge, but because I am not a beginner, and have strengthened my knowledge with the same or similar methods from other sources, I wasn't able to further my fretboard knowledge with this book. I would have liked to have seen a method of learning the notes in triad chord shapes that are used on a guitar fretboard which are found in, or around, the CAGED system. This would have helped me practice the different triad shapes on the fretboard while spelling the notes in each shape, and thereby learning the notes on the guitar (Maybe this is an idea for another book).

A great way to get the fretboard in ones head without surgery
A very good read that explains how the guitar fretboard is laid out and why, with ways to understand the layout, with ingenious ways to get the notes into our brains so that we can recall and use this knowledge in our playing and help in our musical progress with fun. Well worth the kindle cost of £2.99. Today I was unable to practice but did read this book in a sitting, so now I will do some time with guitar practice, and read this book again tomorrow to embed the information gained therein, thank you

I consider this book a good investment, for novices, like me. Of course, if you are a musician with some experience, probably this book will not add anything to you, as a guitarist. But that’s not my case and thousands more. That’s why every publication has a target audience. This is not the holy grail to control a guitar. But it is one of the main components, at least for me, because besides being able to do things, I like to understand the mechanics behind. And that’s what this book explains: using some almost childish tricks (I still remember the “Goat Ate the Bag” thing 😁) it does what it says: gives you simple tools to quickly understand the musical organization of a fretboard. It is something that sooner or later, anyone interested in playing a guitar, will miss. In 24 hours? Well, considering that anyone committed to learn how to play an instrument, should dedicate at least one hour per day, I would say that it will take less than the 24h. But it’s better to go slowly and ensure that each stage is well understood. That will pay. I recommend this book to all the novices in this subject.

It starts easy and sounds logic. It gave me very handy tricks to memorize the Fretboard. It helps a great deal in analysing songs.

First I would like to say that I rarely write reviews, however that being said I believe that when something is worthy of recognition and useful to its audience by aiding others such as myself then it deserves a positive review and then some. I have been playing guitar for 40 years repeating most of the same bad habits and errors and same old chords and riffs reworked every which way I knew how and always feeling a little lost as to what I was really playing and while I could hear proper progressions in my head I would be fumbling all over the fret board finding those notes and being most unsatisfied losing the melody in the process and then being accepting of my limitations just would move on repeating all over again. TILL NOW! In the last year I also began playing piano and because of it's linear layout it made it much clearer to understand music but guitar was still a mess of confusion being that the fret board is by no means clearly logical at first glance as a piano layout is. So I ordered this book expecting no more than the many other books I attempted to learn from over the years and at best hoped for a droplet or two of new knowledge. Much to my surprise within only moments of reading, my guitar began to make sense and I could slowly workout the notes and their positions in my head and to see order and logic to an otherwise confusing fret board. Having already had a grasp on half steps and whole steps from piano it was easy to apply semi tones and whole tones to my thinking and finally my guitar made logical sense particularly when using the fret markers as guides. And those further helped enormously in knowing where scales position began and ended in relation to those markers so that no matter where I now was eyes closed the note albeit very slowly became clear. Additionally it has helped me tremendously in transposing piano to guitar and guitar to piano so its now a breeze to move my compositions to any instrument with ease whereas prior to this book I had to look up each note or work it out so slowly that I would lose interest, now it's a breeze I can look at my guitar neck and know the notes and immediately play them on my piano or other instruments, that's so awesome I can't thank you enough as I can now hear, see, and play the music that is in my head. Also this is a very humble author who clearly is interested in advancing music for all; a well written book, the most useful book I have ever purchased not because it teaches rapidly which indeed it does but because it teaches sensibly and logically being direct to the point with no fluff to distract you, you actually come out of this feeling darn good. Again thank you.

Straight up easy. Explanation’s are very simple! But remember just because you learned it doesn’t mean you memorised it, that’s when the real work starts! Thankfully the book helps with that too!
