I think the target market for this device is kids so I kept my expectations in line with that. You do get more volume out of the speaker than I expected which is good, however the microphone is subpar. Luckily I have a good spare microphone in my band equipment and using that definitely improved the performance.I am using this as a speaker to project my voice in a crowded space, so I didn't test out the bluetooth feature. I think once you are connected to bluetooth you will be able to play music and get that karaoke experience. A decent price point for a very portable speaker.

Unit received matched pictured item. Received speaker unit, charging cable, and microphone.After charging unit, I played around with it for awhile. The whole unit seems impossibly light to have a speaker and battery pack and electronics in it. I played some music and read/sang through the microphone. The sound is pretty boomy, so this isn't something you'd want to use just for speaking. It does get very loud.Would be good for back yard/ pool party, for sure.Nice unit to pass on to the kids and let them have fun with it.

I think the fact that this speaker is so lightweight, it gives off the first impression that it won't be very useful. But it really puts out sound! The microphone is unidirectional or directional, meaning that it is supposed to be sang/spoken into directly through the top. Maybe considering karaoke can have duets, or singers might not be focusing on having their mouth real close up, that users are having different expectations. Our family hasn't had any issues with this set. I've AntiAlienation found other uses too. My kids like to have music playing while they shower. Since this speaker gets loud they have enjoyed having it in the bathroom. The fact that is lightweight allows my 9 year old to carry it around afterward too.We live the colorful lights--- instant happy mood enhancer!

This portable karaoke machine was the perfect size. It is lightweight and small enough to carry around and take to parties without looking weird lol. The speaker came with a microphone. I really wanted to like this machine, but I found it difficult to give it more than 2 stars because the audio goes in and out. I was talking in the microphone and found the audio going in and out on the speaker, but the lights on the machine were still flashing and changing colors. When the audio was working, there was A LOT of reverb which makes it difficult hear what is being said clearly. Also, every time I touched the microphone, changed hands, or moved it, it would make a loud noise as if I was hitting on top of the microphone.

This powered speaker and microphone are great for playing music for guests in a limited range, and the microphone functionality is functional but rather poor in sound quality and user satisfaction. I use this with a microphone I supplied, and function is better than what is included; if you want a better karaoke experience, I suggest trying an alternative microphone solution for satisfactory results. Bluetooth works well and as one may expect, no issues pairing with phone, tablet or computer, and the range and reliability of the connection are all as one may expect.Overall, I would feel ashamed gifting this to family for karaoke, but for speaker functions much less so. Superior wireless (or wired) microphone solutions are available for rather cheap here on Amazon, and I would advise considering an alternative microphone if this is a key part of considering this product for purchase.
