Efficient Time Saver
Great performance and very convenient! This robot vacuum and mop picks up dust, hair, and debris really well, and the mopping feature leaves floors fresh and clean. It navigates smoothly, is easy to use, and runs quietly. I love the scheduling and hands-free operation—it saves so much time. Highly recommended for everyday cleaning!

By far the best robot vacuum we've ever had.
It took a while to dial in the settings on the app and I'm still making small adjustments. It does go through water a lot faster then expected. I have to refill the fresh water about every other day. Thats really my only slight negative. Everything else about this is amazing. To those who have problems with it going in circles when it gets on carpet, I had the same problem. Once I set up a carpet zone in the app then it behaved. I think it got confused since originally I had set up my the app as having laminate throughout the house. I assumed that it would automatically know the difference but after I set up the carpet zones in the app and gave it instructions it worked perfect. Our laminate floors have never been cleaner. The mop function is probably the best thing about this and that's saying something. My wife was skeptical but she says this actually does as good a job as hand mopping. I'm not exaggerating. It doesn't even leave streaks. Our dogs have free run of the house and with a doggy door they're in and out all day tracking in dirt. I have the smart clean feature turned on and it mops every night, sometimes twice. The object avoidance so far has been nearly perfect. It did try to suck up a black charging cable but it was on dark colored carpet so I'm not surprised it didn't recognize it. Our carpet rug has high pile so the mop heads did slightly touch it but that's an easy fix by just having the robot vacuum first while leaving the mop heads at the base then mopping after. We have 2 other entry rugs with shag carpet that this really dosnt like. The side brush got twisted up in it last night and I thought it had destroyed it but I was able to untangle it without problems. I love this mop. I spent a week researching before purchasing. I watched several videos on YouTube and narrowed down the features that I wanted before making my decision. I found this when it was on sell for under $500. I don't believe you need to spend a lot of money (over $1000) to get a good vacuum any more. This is our 3rd robot vacuum and I'm excited to see how for the technologies come in just a few short years. If you wait until these high end flagship vacuums have been out for while, you can pick them up at a steal. This was cheaper then the shark mop vac we bought from Costco a few years ago and the upgrade in technology is mind blowing. We also have had fun with the find the pet function on this. When we were at a family party the other night, I turned on the front facing camera on the app, then set it to free roam around the house searching for our pet until it located them. My Mom and Sister were blown away. I did purchase separately, the 3 year warranty. I figure if it goes out after 3 years then the technology will be to the point where I'm ready to upgrade anyway. Very happy so far and I feel like I made the right choise. Update: this morning the vacuum was stuck on the shag rug placed by one of the exterior doors. It had a completely dead battery. I had to pick it up and manually put it back on the charger. A few hours later I looked in the app and my vacuum had sent me a message. It read, "the Dreame mop vacuum has gotten stuck on this carpet several times, may I recommend that we turn it into a no-go zone?" It had the settings button under neath the text so I clicked it and it had already mapped out a no-go zone around that rug that I just needed to agree to. Wow.

Excellent Performance, Quiet Operation, and Reliable Navigation
This is an excellent product and has performed exceptionally well to date. It operates with minimal noise, delivers strong cleaning performance, and provides effective mopping. The device uses only around 20% battery charge to complete a full home cleaning cycle, which reflects impressive efficiency. My previous machine used to take 80-90% battery charge to complete same area. Navigation is precise, with no collision issues, and it reliably detects cables and other objects, preventing interruptions or damage. Previously, I used another machine with over 54,000 reviews, which I ultimately returned due to poor cleaning results and frequent navigation failures. In comparison, the Dream L40 is available at a similar price point, offers more features, and delivers significantly better performance. Overall, it has been working flawlessly and has exceeded my expectations

Probably the best mid-tier robot vacuum in late 2025/early 2026
The world of these robotic vacuums is horribly confusing. Maybe even on purpose. The mid-tier robots (such as this Dreame L40 Ultra) is littered with so many options, and the prices vary so wildly, it is nearly impossible to feel like you've gotten a reasonable deal. This particular robot was variously priced from $800 to $400 over the space of just a couple of months. When I got it, which was outside of a Prime-Day sale, it was about $480. I watched dozens and dozens of hours of comparison and performance videos and real-world tests, as well as asking AI and making my own chart of features vs price. I landed on this mode for my house. (Look up "Just a Dad" on YT for his reviews). If I were doing this again, I'd probably opt for something with a bit higher suction power than 11k Pa. But 11k does fine. The app is just OK, but is probably on par with the others. Object recognition and avoidance is pretty good but it will not avoid some wires/cables or floor mats. It doesn't always detect carpet really well. What I like is the mapping/sensing/avoidance capability, the mopping, and heated mop washing and drying. I've almost never had it get lost or stuck somewhere unless it got tangled up in a cable... in that case, if you have a problematic area, you just tell the app to avoid that area as a no-go zone. These units work best if they run every day or two. Don't expect a single run to be like a cleaning service. And it won't get under/around everything -- this is for daily use and you'll still need to clean more deeply from time to time by hand. Anyway, it does a great job. It SOMETIMES gets confused about thresholds and will spend a ton of time trying to get over them, and sometimes it gets over them no problem. It has a lot of strategies to get over thresholds and I've never had one get "stuck," though I've wanted to help him when he is struggling! It does require maintenance. I have had to manually clean out the on-board dirt receptacle when it has sucked up a bottle cap or something that blocked it from emptying at the dock. You have to put in water and empty the dirty water frequently. A NOTE ABOUT WATER: add a few tablespoons of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) either 70% or 90% to the clean water, and maybe a drop or two of dish soap (no more). This will make the floor dry faster and also keep the dirty water tank from growing anything that smells horrible. I have yet to have a bad smell at all from the dirty water and I've left water in there for days and days before. If I could, I'd get the kit (do they make one for this robot?) to fill and empty water to the utilities. But alas, I'm too lazy for that, and am not really set up for it.

Excellent Value – Performs Like a Premium Robot Vacuum
I’m really impressed with this vacuum—especially for the price. I got it during the Prime Day sale for $474, and at that price point, the value is hard to beat. The navigation and object avoidance are solid. Not perfect, but definitely good enough. I have a long-haired dog that sheds like crazy, and this vacuum leaves my hard floors spotless. It also does a pretty good job on rugs, picking up most of the fur. While it doesn’t get everything, I’ve gone from vacuuming daily to only needing to do it every few weeks. The mopping feature is another highlight. I live alone with my dog, so my floors aren’t too dirty, but it’s done such a good job maintaining them that I haven’t had to mop since I got it. The auto-cleaning of the mop pads is also a nice bonus and works really well. It’s important to have realistic expectations with these machines. Robot vacuum technology has come a long way in the last decade, but it’s still not perfect. Navigation and object avoidance can occasionally be a little wonky—but that’s true for every robot vacuum on the market right now, even the high-end models. I think a lot of the 1-star reviews come from people expecting a flawless, zero-maintenance experience, which just isn’t realistic at this stage. We’re not quite at the point where these are fully hands-off or completely autonomous. There's also a lot of debate about roller mops vs. spinning mop pads. I’ve tested this against higher-end options like the Ecovacs T80 Omni and the Eufy E28, and honestly, roller mops feel overhyped. Unless you’re constantly tracking in mud or spilling liquids, you probably won’t notice much difference in cleaning performance. For normal daily maintenance, this spin mop design is more than enough. The app is also user-friendly, setup was quick, and the vacuum is surprisingly quiet—both when cleaning and when auto-emptying. Overall, this robot vacuum offers flagship-level features at a fraction of the cost. I’ve tested premium models over $1,000, and while they might be slightly better in certain areas, the improvements are marginal and don’t justify the massive price difference. With how fast robot vacuum tech is evolving, it’s hard to justify spending top dollar for something that could feel outdated in just a couple of years—especially when you can get something like the L40 Ultra for under $600 that performs just as well.

Nearly perfect
Great robot vacuum and mop. The main reason I got this one is due to its hot water mop cleaning. I found that it really does a good job automatically cleaning the mop pads. It also has a setting where it run a second pass on extra dirty rooms depending on how dirty the mop pads are. For maintenance I mostly just have to change the water in the dock and clean the robots filter every few weeks. Other than that you need to sometimes clean the dock and replace the dust bag when it’s full. The robot does a really good job mopping. It does about as good at vacuuming as other robots, good on hardwood okay on carpet. The mop extends the edge of baseboards and the spinning brush extends into corners getting most of the floor. I find that the mop sometimes doesn’t make full contact with the floor so I have to use the deep cleaning mode The robot has some weird mapping, going in very unusual routes and sometimes stopping to think. Overall, it’s a great robot requiring very little maintenance for less than $500

Powerful, Smart, and Truely Handsfree Cleaning
This robot vacuum cleaner has completely changed how I keep my home clean. The 25,000pa suction is no joke, it pulls up dust, pet hair, and debris from both hard floors and carpets with ease. I especially love how it automatically boosts suction on carpets and lifts the mop, so there's no damp mess left behind. Yeah, what really sets this robot apart is the extendable side brush and mop. It actually reaches corners, edges, and under furniture where other vacuums usually miss a lot. My floors look noticeably cleaner, even along baseboards. The all in one self emptying and self cleaning dock is a game changer. It washes and dries the mops with hot air, empties the dustbin, and dramatically reduces maintenance. I can go weeks without touching anything. Another thing I like is the navigation, it is impressive. It maps the house accurately and avoids obstacles like shoes and pet bowls without getting stuck. As a pet owner, I really appreciate how well it handles fur and keeps pet area consistently clean. We are really happy with this robot cleaner, it saves us a lot of energy from cleaning. If you want powerful cleaning, smart features, and minimal effort, this Robot vacuum is absolutely worth it.

Best Robot Vacuume I have Owned
I started buying robot vacuums back when Romba S9 was the best of the best. While I loved my S9 for raw power it lacked in many other areas I had to move on. Since then, I have had mostly Roborock vacuums. I have owned the S6, S7, and S8 and while I stayed with them mostly for the dual rollers, it seems like overnight robot vacuum evolved, and now they were moping and raising mopping pads with a camera to locate pets and all kinds of bells and whistles side mopping and on and on. I tried the Dreame X30 and while it was a great vacuum it did not seem to have the same raw power as the Roborock Q Master. The Roborock Q Master sucks at object avoidance. No matter what I did or what settings I selected it would not avoid anything. I know no robot vacuum is perfect but the Q Master is listed as being smart and has a camera in theory should help it avoid cords and socks and dogs, but it does not. I picked up the L40 Dreame on sale and have been in love since. It has the raw power like the Q Master but is way smarter. I was so tired of looking around before I ran my vacuum I would clean to clean. The L40 is so much better not only does it run like a dream but I have not had it once get stuck or get something stuck in its roller. It vacuumed under my couch and then in the app at got a notification that I might have a missing item under there, it even took a picture of it so I could decide if it was worth going after. And for the 1st time besides my Romba S9, the vacuum will come back when it is full and empty itself and keep going. I have a Beagle and she shads like crazy if I skip a day of vacuuming other vacuums would get full but keep vacuuming even though they were no longer picking anything up. The mopping is also top notch and not only does it push one mop pad out to the side but it will also wiggle to get even closer. After mopping it will clean and let you know if the water was dirty enough to mop again and then go do it. The only problem is it only does this with genius clean not customized. Also, the side brush no longer spins on the carpet by default. You have to do some trickery to get it to spin on the carpet. Which is stupid to me, I looked around and they saw this is because it's not really needed on carpet and keeps the motor from burning out. I do not agree. I would give it 5 stars but Amazon delivered it to me damaged, and will not replace the item they just want me to return it for a refund. The problem I got it on sale close to Prime Day and it is no longer on sale. So, if I returned it, I would have to pay more to buy it again. If it was a small amount like 25 bucks, I could see that, but it’s like 350. The policy does say I can get an item replaced within 30 days but they are not budging. Everything works besides the cleaning solution injection. So, if you are thinking about buying it, I would say pull the trigger. If you can buy it from someone other Than Amazon that’s even better. Since they will punish you if you happen to find a deal on their site. Update**** While I could not get Amazon to do the right thing and replace the item without me returning it. Dreame support has stepped in and has been nothing but pleasant to work with. I wanna be clear the 5 stars are for Dreame and the L40. Their customer support and their vacuum have been a dream to work with it. I can not recommend them enough. If you are on the fence about buying a robot vacuum from Dreame, I would say pull the trigger. The vacuum is top-of-the-line filled with the best tech. Customer support has been fast to reply and very easy to work with. Until the X50 comes out I am staying with the L40. *********Update********* Still one of the best robot vacumes you can buy hands down and I would buy it again if the X50 was not out :) (I would love to review the X50 Dreame if you are listing) and it seems to be improving itself like it is learning, hear me out. I have two small dogs one that is afraid of its own shadow and another one who could care less about the vacuum. When I 1st got it I was cautious around both both dogs taking what seems like 1000 of pictures of them, even if they were not in the frame all the way. It would slow down if they walked in front of it, it would give them both a wide birth as if it was unsure as to how the dogs would react. Fast forward to today and I no longer get out of 100 pics of them in the app. The vacuum knows that it can get right up next to my dog who does not care and clean around her. But it knows to slow down when the other dog is laying in the middle of the floor because it knows he will get scared and move at the last minute. I swear iuts almost like it is learning and thinking.
