Impressive yet Easy!
A very nice little kit with a very high probability of success. Bought 2 of these to help introduce my grandchildren to electronics. The surface mount ICs are pre-soldered. For the remaining components there aren't too many solder joints to make and the components to be soldered are not too heat-sensitive. The instructions are very good. I liked that it comes with a power supply, as batteries are a major budget item for families with kids. The finished kit is impressive and they loved them!

Fantastic!
This was money remarkably well spent, lots of fun to solder. Also interesting scientific concepts at play and once you build it and try it out it WILL make you smile! Gives the illusion of anti-gravity. Amazing!

Fun, but didn't last
This is a very cool first soldering project, which my son did by himself, and the levitation functionality is very fun to play with. After turning it on for the first time, he played with it for about 15 minutes at which point it started smoking, and then never worked again. He would have liked to play with it longer, but that's all the time we got out of it since a hole burned through the chip at U2 on the output voltage side of the chip. Perhaps the kit manufacturers should add a user-applied adhesive heat sink to the kit which would further increase the device lifetime, as well as the learning involved.

Fairly easy to build and use.
We bought this for a science fair project. My son (10) loved building it! He was brand new to soldering and so there was a learning curve but, with the help and supervision of his dad and grandfather, he was able to complete the build. Once built, it worked as expected and we all marveled at the floating little balls provided in the kit!

Bit complicated
My child who is very good at building these stem builds couldn't figure out how to get this done. Unfortunately he gave up and it started over heating so we had to get rid of it.

Quick and easy build
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. This was a very quick and easy build. I thought it would take him longer to build it! If you follow the directions, it works perfectly the first time. You do have to know how to solder. He said he wouldn't change a thing about this kit.
