I was skeptical regarding claims of this antenna's improved range performance for GMRS radios. I WAS WRONG. This is a sweet little antenna with a LOT of range. I don't know what TIDRADIO did to get this right, but it outperforms my other GMRS antennas in both range and clarity. The radios we're using (Baofeng UV-5G) might have helped that performance, but I'm still giving the bulk of the credit to the TD-771 antenna. Did I hear you ask WHY I bought these replacement antennas? Well, whether you asked or not, here goes the story, with a lesson for all GMRS radio buyers: >> We purchased a 2-pack of UV-5G GMRS radios from Amazon. I presumed they were being shipped with GMRS-tuned antennas. I WAS WRONG IN THAT ASSUMPTION!! >> I was a little disappointed in the UV-5G's range out of the box, so I first swapped in the package-included second antennas, and was still disappointed. So, I started looking closer and GUESS WHAT?? They had sent me ONLY antennas rated for 2Meters (both the OEM shorties and the replacement longer whips). It was clearly imprinted right in that area surrounding the part of the antenna that screws into the radio -- you know, the part you rarely look at. >> So, I was upset -- seems that if you're selling a GMRS radio, you should be selling a GMRS-tuned Antenna with it, right? Doesn't seem like too much to ask. And if you're including a 2nd antenna for each radio in the package, it seems to me that one could reasonably expect those antennas to be GMRS-tuned. THEY WEREN'T! >> Anyway, I turned to YouTube in search of a reasonably-priced solution, and came across this TD-771, which was HIGHLY recommended by several YouTube channels devoted to Ham Radio things. >> When we got them out and started testing the TD-771 antennas, I was surprised (but gratified) that their performance lived up to the hype!! I was getting clear conversations with users that my wife's GMRS radio connected to a quarter-wave magnetic mount antenna on her vehicle's roof simply couldn't hear as well. In fact, one of those users actually call my wife to let her know that indeed, I had been MUCH clearer transmitting to them than she had been with the fancy vehicle antenna. BOTTOM LINE: These antennas perform extremely well and are well worth the cost. In fact, they're a bargain! >> I don't think these will stay low-priced for long, so if you're on the fence, order now. If they disappoint, you can send them back to Amazon (but watch out for any return deadlines). DISCLAIMER: THIS IS AN HONEST REVIEW!!! I wasn't paid by anyone, anywhere, anyhow for this review. I'd never even heard of TIDRADIO or the TD-771 until about two weeks ago, when I heard about it in YouTube reviews. I purchased these antennas with my own money, and I'm not getting reimbursed in any way, shape or form. I've never talked, emailed, chatted, or in any other way communicated with ANYONE at/from TIDRadio, EVER! However, I am now definitely a new fan of TIDRadio!

It is working fine but not for all frequencies. I am still looking for an answer regarding this issue. Seller has no clue... The antenna is well made. Works very well on most frequencies I am using. You can feel a better range switching from that shorter antenna that came with my Walki talkie. The price is very good for 2 antennas in the package.

It has increased the range and signal strength of my GMRS radio’s. Very flexible, the price won’t break the bank and a recommendation if you want to upgrade.

Works well for it's size. Perfect if you have a tight space and need to move around.

SWR was close to 2 in both bands, as measured on a VNA for the GMRS version. One antenna was a little better than the other. They did hit correctly on the GMRS frequencies rather than the adjacent 70cm band, unlike most 771 antennas. These are not the very best performing of the antennas I have tested, but they are pretty good. They are the best I have found at this price point. They are 10 times better than some of the stubby antennas I have tested. On the other hand, the air band version performed very poorly. SWR came to a minimum of around 2.4 at 106MHz, which is near the low end of the air band. Near the upper end, it is well over 12. 3 is generally considered to be the maximum usable value, with numbers below 1.5 being desirable. When I tried to tune in the local ATIS (Airport Terminal Information System) frequency for my area, the rubber ducky antenna that came with the radio worked better than this one.

Brings in the signals the best you can get it compared with other antennas.
