I'm a long-time Canon user, and though my R-series cameras can do pretty well in low light, there are still some things you can do with a flash that can't be achieved without one. My son and I tend to share equipment, and he has a newer Canon R-10 camera that does not have a normal hot shoe. This flash has one of the new hot shoes and works with my R6 Mark 2 as well. This is the baby version of the ELT-5, which is a really great flash. I like how it's compact and can use normal AA rechargeable batteries instead of the new LP-EL batteries, which cost an arm and a leg. Because of the new modern connector, it also fully integrates with the camera, and the primary functionality can be accessed through the camera's menu system. This makes it much more intuitive to set up, unlike the older E-TTL lenses such as the 430 or 680. So, if you have one of the new Canon Camera R-series with one of the modern hotshoes and don't need something with a really strong light source, this is a great starter flash that won't break the bank while providing most of the features of its stronger siblings.

I'm an amateur for sure. I got this for my new Canon R7 camera. The flash unit feels very solidly built and It works really well. Lots of options on it to experiment with.

This EL-10 is perfect for my needs as an intermediate photographer leading toward the professional stage. it helps especially in compensating the deficit in low-light performance of my rf 24-105 f4-7.1

Great flash for my Canon camera for taking real estate photos. Syncs easily and great quality from Canon
