Wake up to wool duvets!
A wonderfully warm though lightweight duvet, even for this tog. A lovely, cosy feel, immeasurably better than a synthetic duvet and considerably more economical than a feather/down duvet. Also, some manufacturers of feather/down duvets obtain their filling from sources where the welfare of the birds is at best questionable, but sheep-shearing is, as far as I'm aware, normal practise and healthy for the sheep. Slumberdown wool duvets are also very good value - many others are available at much higher cost but this scored top in a May 2025 Good Housekeeping survey of wool bedding, which is the main reason I chose it. I bought a brushed cotton/flannelette duvet cover for it, which adds to the cosy feel. The duvet needed airing for four or five days after opening, to air out the natural wool smell - not unpleasant, just a bit unusual, but it soon goes. Highly recommended. Thank you, Slumberdown.

Once you try wool you won't go back
The things we do for our loved ones, right? Here I am, a happily married man plodding his way through life and kipping each night under a comfortable duvet when my wife says "we should get a wool filled duvet". What? Why on earth would I want a wool filled duvet? I run hot during the winter for goodness sake the last thing I need is to be essentially wearing a woolen jumper to bed everyday! "Oh, but wool keeps you cool and warm" says the wife. Yes, of course it does I think... But guess what... I still buy one! I am glad I did! As I write this we've had some chilly weather in blighty and I have slept like a log, comfortable, warm but not hot and haven't woken up feeling like I've been sweating more than I do when thinking about paying the utility bills! The duvet itself has good a decent weight to it, enough to notice but not enough to feel like it is too much. There is a thickness to it which provides a great look when plumped up in a cover and feels generally well made. Our previous duvet was man-made-fiber and had moved within the cover, this is stitched in such a way that leads me to believe that shouldn't be an issue. Both my wife and I are very pleased to have swapped to a wool duvet, it warms up much quicker and offers a far better sleep then before, the best thing being that my wife, who usually runs cold, no longer feels the need to put cold feet on me to warm up - the duvet is doing it for me! The only downsides would be that, with it being a naturally filling, you will notice the smell of sheep on the duvet for a day or two, this is solved easily by airing it outside of hanging it up in a garage - personally, we weren't bother by it but some might be. The other being the noise the duvet makes, when new it can sound like a crisp packet being ruffled, again we didn't find it an issue and it never disturbed our sleep, we have found that after a week or two it has settled and put this down to the cover becoming softer over time, give it a good shake each day and it'll improve. In summary, I won't go back to another type of duvet, whilst I am yet to try this during summer temperatures, having gone back to a poly-filled duvet for a night when away for work, the different is incredible and one that is difficult to describe unless you try it yourself, you to may be as surprised as I am! I might even get an extra one for the guest bedroom for when the misses is snoring and I need some peace...

Quality duvet for a good night sleep!
I wish I had bought this wool duvet before. It is super comfortable and does create the perfect temperature to sleep. What I also like about this particular brand is that it has a 100% cotton cover. Some more expensive brands often have mixed fibres or polyester covers, which will not allow for the wool to breathe as it should. The pillows are also generous in size and comfortable. I did not have any issue with any smell from the wool as it is not strong and I left the duvet to air for a few hours as recommended. Finally, this is a very affordable wool duvet of high quality. Very happy with it.

TOG rating inaccuracy with update
On Amazon, the TOG rating for a heavyweight quilt is shown as 10-14. Why such wide variation? I decided to take a chance. On arrival, the literature indicates TOG 10-12. So, suddenly it's dropped 2 TOG. This is unacceptable variation. A difference of 4 togs could be a difference big enough to make it inadequate for winter. A 2 tog difference also makes me question quality control. I've not seen other quilts with such variation. They're specific about tog rating. Also, if you take a chance, as I did, the quilt was so tightly packed, there's no way I'd be able to get it back in the packing. I bought as the price seemed competitive. It's ok now, in November, even comfortable, but I have a cold house so we will see if it's enough in colder months. Someone I know has just got a single heavyweight one. Subjectively, that appears thinner and lower density/weight per sq foot than my one. Again, that makes me question quality control and consistency. It seems to be pure wool and 100% cotton cover which is good. The edges of my one are messily finished. If you want to try and the price is right, give it a go but keep in mind the wide potential variation in TOG and the difficulty you'll have repackaging for return. It does have a wool smell from new. Doesn't bother me and even comforting, but some seem to have issues with this. I've marked 2 stars as I'm not happy with the uncertain TOG and the seller needs to sort this. I wanted a 14 rating and just don't know that's true. If it's not enough for winter, I won't be happy having to put my old quilt back on after spending on this new one. UPDATE-- Had quilt over a year. My initial frustration over quality control led to a 2 star review. While my earlier thoughts hold true, I'm upping my mark to 4 star because the duvet has been so nice in use. It's kept me warm in winter and the extra weight of a wooden quilt is really comforting compared to a feather one. This and a good heated blanket has made going to bed in winter something to look forward to. Very happy with the purchase as it's turned out and would recommend with the caveat over QC
