Ware Manufacturing Chew Proof 4-Story Hamster Cage

I bought this cage for my two pet rats. I had purchased them a cage for $200 that was bigger but similar setup. It had a deep plastic base and I thought I was getting the best cage ever. WELL, my rats chewed massive holes in the plastic base within 2 months. One of my rats escaped and was missing for almost 2 weeks. (She chewed everything in my house, even damaging the hoses to my dishwasher) I bought this because it has a METAL base and the wire part fits all the way down in it. Not only is it extremely inexpensive, but it's really a great cage. Plenty of room for my two rats. They kept knocking the ramps off, so I just took them out. They like to leap and climb to get to and from the platforms. It's really super easy to clean. Seriously, the ONLY downfall to this cage is the fact that the base is not very deep and rodents WILL throw bedding out. I knew this before purchasing and kept the plastic base to my huge cage, patched the holes with duct tape and set this cage down inside it so that the mess wouldn't get all over my table and floor. May not be the classiest looking setup, but it's functional haha. I definitely recommend this cage if you want an inexpensive high rise cage! And especially if you don't like your pets escaping!

Everybody's reviews were very helpful for me to buy this. Other people recommended it, and I want to say thank you to everyone - I think you were right, it is a very good buy. I am not mechanical at all, so I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to put together, thankfully! The wire came out in folds, tucked into the purple bottom. Each side of the box unfolded and spread out, and the sides easily hooked together, with latches interlocking the sides. Only one hook on a gate needed to be tightened with a plier and that was just a minimal tightening. I did check all of the hooks and latches, just in case, since other people had advised to do that - luckily all of the hooks seemed to be in good shape and the cage attached together just fine.My daughter's dumbo rat fits very nicely in the cage - he is by himself. He loves running up and down the ramps, and he took turns sleeping on each ledge - kind of like having three bunk beds! The two gates are in perfect positions to get the rat out and put him back in very easily. They are pretty easy to open, too, you might even need two hands, since it is a push in and pull up at the same time kind of deal, which is a little tricky the first couple of times to open but feels like it is nice and secure when it is shut. We didn't even feel the need to add a clamp as other people did - but it always a good idea, just in case.The cage has plenty of room to put in a pretty large house for him on the bottom floor and a good size wheel, as well as the water bottle, which fits securely. A hammock would fit nicely, hanging from the roof of the cage - there is more than enough room for that, but we haven't put one in yet.A nice bonus - the dumbo rat likes to climb on the (inner!) sides of the cage, like a trapeze artist, which I figure gives him a nice workout, in addition to running up and down the cage. We haven't cleaned it yet, but the whole wire mesh can be lifted up easily from the purple bottom, to clean it.The little rat seems to really love his cage - it has much more room to run around in, he was in a much smaller hamster cage that he had outgrown! He looks very happy. I am very pleased with the quality and the size of the cage for this very good price. It took a few days to actually ship from the warehouse, but once it shipped, it arrived in just two days. Overall loved it all around!

This is a nice cage for my daughter's pet rat. It would be too small for more than 1 rat, but probably big enough for 2 smaller rodents. It is easy to clean. The only problem that we have noticed is that the ladders fall off too easily. It is an affordable cage with room for toys and a hammock. Our pet seems quite comfortable in it, and the wire spacing is tight enough to prevent his feet from slipping through on the shelves. It could be a bit more sturdy around the doors, but no danger of a pet escaping. It should just be better reinforced with a second piece of wire where the latch goes for long-term durability.
