When you have spent good money on buying garments with good, effective waterproofing, the last thing you want to do is ruin them by washing them inappropriately. Washing with conventional detergents will soon diminish the ability of your waterproof clothing to do the job they were designed for.I have been using these Nikwax products for years now and I have no hesitation in recommending them. They are simple to use, but effective.* I always start by running my washing machine through a short wash cycle while it is empty. This is to make sure that any residual, conventional detergent has been rinsed out of the system.* Use Nikwax Tech Wash first. You can wash up to two items in one load. The bottle tells you how much to use depending on weather you are in a hard or soft water area.* After the wash cycle has been completed, you use the TX Direct Wash-In. Again you can wash up to two items at a time, but remember to use 100ml of the solution per item.* Once this second cycle has completed, the garments can either be hung up to dry, or they can be dried on a low setting in the tumble drier, if the product care label states that the items are suitable for this.That is all there is to it! Not only are your clothes clean and fresh again, but this really does help to maintain and maximise the waterproof and breathable qualities that you bought them for.It is definitely worthwhile investing in this product and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

I've been using this for years and it's never let me down, used twice a year all my outdoor clothing is still waterproof including my motorcycle stuff.

It does add waterproofness but quite smelly. The result is better than not treated but worse than the original factory result

Living in the UK means having a waterproof (or umbrella or just get wet!).Depending of how much you use your waterproofs depends how often you need to reproof it.Once your water proof starts getting saturate and not beading water off, now is the time to reproof.I found this helps keep that outer shell from letting water through and just slipping off.I use this with Gore Tex and Nikwax garments and find it helps keep it dry inside.I've used this wash and reproofing agents for a number of years and I find it helps also prolong the life of the jacket / trousers.Simple to use, wash with Tech Wash and then wash with TX Direct (make sure your machine has no old detergents in it from prior wash, I usually do a rinse cycle to clean out), Leave to air dry and that's it.

Nikwax is my absolute go to when it comes to washing technical clothing and putting back in the water repellence. When I take out the washing machine I have an old towel at the ready as with the waterproofing one the water will drip off the fabric and I also put it under whatever I have washed as it will drip. Don't let that put you off it is the best stuff I have found for doing an amazing job at keeping things in top condition and waterproof!
