Lead Free Pewter - Alloy R98 Pewter Casting Ingot (Tin 98%, Bismuth 1.5%, Copper .50%) : desertcart.in: Industrial & Scientific Review: This is the only pewter that I use to cast my jewelry from my shop (Elven Soul 🧝♀️). I usually order from the Roto Metals website, but sometimes it's just easier to add this on my desertcart orders. The R98 pewter is great for detailed castings. I hand sculpt designs from clay, then make high temperature molds, then I melt this ingot on the stove and pour into the molds. The great thing about pewter is, if you mess up, just throw it back in the melting pot! The photos of the two finished pendants have been antiqued a bit to highlight the details (the bails are not pewter just the pendants), the photo with the pieces on the paper plate are the accurate shade of the pewter once you cast with it, prior to antiquing. Definitely recommend, I'll continue to purchase more as needed. Review: .Very great stuff. Melts relatively easy, especially in an electric pot one can buy on desertcart. Could use a crummy skillet on a gas stove but I like the other way. METAL: - shinier than most where there is not Bismuth and that addition does a bit better on details where I make beads Like that it has zero-ish, lead as my work may get into children's mouths by accident. went a long way and will be ordering more, but for -- regular beads-- I order the larger amounts minus the bismuth for cost. Was going to try to add a few flakes of pure bismuth one can get naturally on desertcart but haven't tried that yet: vendor -- this one --- states it'll work measurements at own calculations.

This ingot is so shiny and nice that I hate to melt it down! I have not used it as yet but, let's face it, it is very hard to damage a pewter ingot in shipment! Even the package was undamaged (which, from other suppliers, is often the case on heavy objects such as this). I will likely purchase this item again.

I bought a couple ingots, and both swabbed positive for lead. Can't really use it for the project I was hoping to... But I'll still give it a 3/5 for a nice surface finish, and being the correct weight.

This pewter bullion alloy is great and holds detail really well for casting objects with small details like jewelry, or gaming miniatures. It also seems fairly strong and not as easy to bend or break off smaller or thinner parts like other pewter alloys. Although it really helps to warm up the mold in an oven and doing a few test castings before you get a good cast.
