I had no interest in any of the “Span” games from Stonemaier. In fact, I am put off by wildlife in games in general. However, dragons I do enjoy, so I took a chance on Wyrmspan. What a surprise! This is an excellent game, with nice artwork, a beautiful tableau, Dragon Fact books for each the 180+ cards! I was amazed by the intuitive game play and mechanics. It’s my most played game in a collection of 60+, at 32 plays. I highly recommend this game. After reading numerous reviews, my understanding is that Wyrmspan is more challenging than Wingspan. I recently added the Dragon Academy expansion, which adds more content, as well as a new dragon type that you can train in the academy! Great game!

My husband and I LOVE playing this game. There are many different ways to score points, so it’s not always obvious who is going to win. We have introduced it to many family members and friends, and bought the expansion Dragon Academy. It works great as a 2 player game, or with a group! The pieces are durable, it all fits nicely in the box, the artwork is gorgeous, and it’s very fun to play! Highly recommend!!

A fantastic game! One of the best strategy games I have ever played. The ability to link your dragons together in point building chain and goals make it very replay-able and addictive. The multiple paths to building points makes it less chance driven than Wingspan.

We love Birdspan and got this to try out. It’s complicated at first but once you get the hang of it it’s very enjoyable. We found chat GPT to be helpful to answer some of our questions quickly. Appropriate for 10+

Such an awesome game. I like a game where it's competitive but not to a point where you try to thwart each other. I can focus on my own habitats and birds and strategize without worrying what others are doing too much. Love the effects and how they compliment the actual birds. A very well designed and executed game.

Wyrmspan is similar enough to Wingspan to feel like its part of the world, but also different enough to give you a reason to play both. We really liked the addition of the caves as they are just one time beneifts, and the dragon guild tracker is cool too. Using coins per turn instead of turn markers allows you to sometimes have a lot of turns if you gain more coins throughout the round which is cool too. Overall I'd recommend it! I wouldn't say its better than Wingspan, but its a great alternative and holds its own ground.
