Brian H. May ("BHM") was the lead guitar player for Queen. He and his dad hand-built the Red Special guitar that he uses to this day. My idea was to built a Strat-style guitar using May's electronics: three single-coil pickups, wired in series, with on/off and phase switches for each pickup. The Domofa Alnico 5 ST Pickup Single Coil Pickups are perfect for this application. Not only do they somewhat resemble the BHM guitar Burns pickups, they come with moderate, 5.5k-ish DCRs and Strat-friendly pole spacing. All that was necessary to produce an ST-based "Red Special" clone was adding a separate case ground to each pickup and slog through the 40+ solder connections for the switch matrix. When done, the pickups sounded great in all 15+ switch combinations. In a "normal" ST type guitar, the Domofa pickups would also shine with parallel wiring and a balance rero sound.

I've bought pickups that cost 7 times more money and was $33 impressed. These pickups for $33 are worth far more than I paid for them! The tone is top shelf, first rate! I saw individual magnetic pole pieces, cloth covered wire and metal shielding around the pickup, what else doe you need?!!!!Buy them before they're gone. Great product!I've played these pickups for some time now. I'm even more impressed. Sometimes the newness of a set of pickups changes the tone so much you only believe they sound better. Not this set! The more I play these pickups loaded into a strat, they just sound better and better. Friends ask what pickups? I let them hear and play that strat prior to talking them how inexpensive these are. They just can't believe low cost pickups can sound this good.

I got these to replace stock pickups of a set of very noisy Squier alnicos... these sound way louder and with more sustain, however they are as noisy as the SQR pickups I replaced. Make sure you have a noise gate on your board.

I bought these for my first full custom build. With no reviews I was hesitant, but it's Amazon - what's the worst that can happen? These were impressive right out of the box. I was extremely surprised to find cloth braided wiring on such an inexpensive set of pickups. Once I had them all wired up, I was expecting that cheap, overly hot "tinny" sound, but I was surprised at how full and rich these sound in all positions. I will definitely be picking up another set of these in the future.

I ordered this product to try out another type of pickup in my strat.The packaging and design was appealing to me.I was impressed with what I received. But,I had an issue with the middle pickup.It was noisy.It seemed to have a short in it.I removed them.Then,I put the originals back in.

They are very nice pickups and very affordable. The packaging is very nice as well.

These pick ups have a nice nice clear sound. They’re very good and they dirty up real nice.
