I have now bought a total of 7 of these units, and will probably purchase more they work so well! We bought 1 to start out with to help curve the winter "mice" problem in our basement that seems to always happen every year. Within 2 weeks that 1 single unit wiped out a solid family of mice. We then ordered 3 more to go in exterior buildings around the house to help combat them from making it in the house and those worked just as well! There are days where these will catch multiple mice in the same day. Fast forward a year, I purchased 3 for my work at a garden center and we've now taken out about 2 dozen mice in about a month with these 3 units! In short... THESE WORK! A Q-tip with some peanut butter is all you need to load these up. Be sure to keep these traps along the wall and/or by doorways and somewhat out in the open so it's an easier find for the rodents. Also, one thing to keep in mind, if you have gravel, or chunks of anything happen to get on the metal middle plate (the plate that senses and zaps the mouse), the plate will malfunction and not sense anything on it. So be sure to keep them clean and debris free! Otherwise, they are very super easy to use, easy to maintain, long lasting for both the unit and battery life (I've yet to change the x4 AA batteries in any of the units), much easier and safer to use than an original or traditional mouse trap, and make it for a speedy and humane kill of the mouse. I'm definitely happy that I went with these over anything else! They are pricey for what they are, but they pay for themselves quickly in the sense of ease of operation and/or if you've had things get damaged by mice/rodents already, the value in damage will out likely out weigh the cost of these quickly!!

DO NOT BUY!! The redesigned model cannot be opened to clean and there is no bait door. Please look at some of the one star reviews, the redesign is horrible!! if the metal plate gets dirty you cannot access it to clean off. Also when you bait the metal plate on the back with peanut butter, the rat/mouse can get to it from outside the trap. If gets hot the peanut butter melts onto the metal plate and you have a mess, which you cannot clean because of the poor design. PLEASE do not buy, you'll be sorry and for the price you'll just get upset like me. Victor (Woodstream Corp.) should be embarrassed to have redesigned the perfectly good prior model to save a few cents. I wish I could get my money back!

I've been trying to humanely trap/dissuade a family of mice/rats in my attic. I've done the scented "scare away" sachets, I've done the humane cage trap to capture them and take them someplace far away and release them. Unfortunately, none of that worked over the course of three months and they're so active they are waking me up at night. I had it. At 3:00am this morning, I had been woken up for the last time. I ordered this trap. I've had it in my attic for all of 30 minutes and it's killed three of the suckers (so far). I was not expecting this level of result so quickly. I used a blob of peanut butter as the bait. I've emptied it within a couple minutes of it going off (so the other rats/mice don't have enough time to see what happens to those who enter). I've also set up a wifi cam with motion sensing and night vision so I could be alerted and watch when one approached the trap. That's been a huge help in doing this so rapidly. Highly recommend that to anyone dealing with a lot of rats/mice. Seriously... This has produced more results than all of the stuff I had bought prior... and though I thought I was going to feel bad about killing them, this seems to be fast, efficient, and relatively humane. So easy to use. Solid and perfectly sized so you can easily pick it up and dump it. It also looks pretty easy to clean when everything is done.

So far we’ve got 3 rats in these, best bait is a pice of dog food, dog treat, and birds seed. The Tom cat attractant doesn’t work. These are the best solution that is working so far.

Definitely works well. Kills rats and mice. One at a time yes, but it kills rats and mice. My ONLY complaint is that there is nowhere to put the bait except on the flat back plate which makes it impossible to clean. Even a small ledge would be more convenient. Perhaps something to seal off the back where the bait is placed so the rodents may only smell or eat the bait from inside the trap. It's a sturdy well made little trap. The carcass is easy to remove, just slide the on/off switch to off and tilt. The body slides out into the trash bin easily. Bottom line is, I'm going to purchase a second one of these. I use corn muffin for bait. Works much better than peanut butter. Who knew that four AA cells packed enough wallop to kill.
