Such Charming Liars

I have enjoyed reading all her books, and just like the last seven this one had me grasping for air. Still not my favorite out of the bunch but still amazing, and definitely a page turner.

For all of Kat’s life, it’s just been her and her mother, Jamie—except for the forty-eight hours when Jamie was married and Kat had a stepbrother, Liam. That all ended in an epic divorce, and Kat and Liam haven’t spoken since. Now Jamie is a jewel thief trying to go straight, but she has one last job—at billionaire Ross Sutherland’s birthday party. And Kat has figured out a way to tag along. What Kat doesn’t know, though, is that there are two surprise guests at the dazzling Sutherland compound that weekend. The last two people she wants to run into. Liam and his father—a serial scammer who has his sights set on Ross Sutherland’s youngest daughter. Kat and Liam are on a collision course to disaster, and when a Sutherland dies, they realize they might actually be in the killer’s crosshairs themselves. My Thoughts: In Such Charming Liars we are introduced to characters determined to turn their lives around by doing one last wrong deed. The story is told by alternating narrators, and teenagers Kat and Liam are trying to learn how to do their jobs. I haven’t read any of the previous books in the series and might need to do just that. I did find this story interesting enough…but not one that held me captive. 4 stars. ***

I love her books, have read them all, but this one wasnt my favorite. It was good but I felt the book ended abruptly with so many unknowns & "what happened to", "what about this/that" questions. A simple epilogue tying up those unknowns would've made it better.

Good read. Didn't want it to end. Great series

A little slow as it sets the story but then turns into a fun read.

Love this author

Thieves, con artists, abusers, and general criminals — it’s hard to care about characters like this. Which is likely why the author had to spend so much time setting up the backstory before anything consequential could happen, and it took me weeks to have any motivation to keep reading. Usually, I find McManus’s books to be captivating, so this one was disappointing. Once I got about 3/5 of the way done, it kind of picked up, but that’s a long time to expect readers to stick around.

I loved this book. I thought I knew who the real villains were until the surprise near the end. Snooping teens are not appreciated enough lol. It may not have been my favorite from Karen but it was still worth my time and coins. Great read overall.
