I purchased this for a project, one where I needed to remake a part. That failed, as I seriously underestimated the force needed to cold (or hot) work stainless steel by hand, even of these relatively modest dimensions. The metal, however, is good. It has a respectable finish - it will clean up easily, enough, if presentation is important. I presume it is 316L, I have no way of testing it, but over many months in an ordinary indoor environment about two feet from a partially opened window I saw no rust of any description forming on any part of it .

Unfortunately, I could not find the size I wanted in 316 SS. Had this been 1/8th (vice > 1/4") inch thick, perfect. Since I am using this as a cooking aid measuring tool, I immediately washed them in dishwasher after verifying a strong magnet has no attraction to either piece. They showed no sign of discoloration upon washing. I bought two in case someone in the family wants to use them when making sauce reductions; like thickening heavy cream for al Fredo sauce. Tired of using dinner knives to measure when 3 Cups reduces to 2 Cup height; just add 2 Cups and measure height form top of pot, remove tool, then add remaining Cup and reduce cream/liquid slowly. Expect cream residue to adhere, plus I measure along the tool upon removal from liquid.

I needed a bar 9.5 inches in length. The 12 inch bar was as close as I could find. Cut off and smoothed with a Dremel tool and it works perfectly. Product as described.

Not much to say about stainless steel strapping lol I completed my project, exhaust pipe mounting brackets on my '77 Triumph motorcycle and they look great. Price was right on the stainless too, and shipping was fast.

Don't know what material this is, but all of my magnets ignore it.

It will take extra effort to get it to be polished. Else seems good.

A little pricey but a good product.

The photo shows a great-looking stainless steel bar. These came looking like a 10 year old dishwasher. Friend with a metalshop made them look uniform and less grungy. That said, if you have a good wire brush (mine broke, sigh) you could probably refinish it yourself...but why would you have to? Still - these are super solid and straight as a ruler.

Length is only 11-3/4".
