Q: Would a 1-year-old be able to make any use out of these? Or would they require too much force to hit?

I would think so. If not right now, then the child will grow into it. I bought these so that both of my grandchildren (ages 3 and 5) would have something to play along on during our traditional grandpa holiday guitar concert. For a kid, anything that they can hit and makes noise is a winner! Please note that the bongos are not what a musician would buy for a performance or recording but, for the price, they served my purpose greatly. If anything, they are a cool looking decorative accent piece they I can display along with my guitar collection. I hope this helps.

No, it doesn't come with a stand.

Q: where can I get a replacement head for the 7 Inch bongo?

I don't know, I need a replacement also. I tried a big music store at the mall with no success. I tightened mine too much and it broke.

Q: Is it for playing with hands only or with drumstick too?

Both hands and drumsticks can be used but it is a bongo set so hands are the usual method
