Is the surround only suitable with loft ladders that don't extend into the loft?

The surround only has three sides. I use a ladder that folds up into the loft.Its a five star product and I would recommend it to every one that has a loft ladder. and is so easy to install.

Can anyone tell us please what the 8cms refer to in the product description? Thank you

I believe 8 cm is a little under 4 inches - and if I am correct then I would say this measurement refers to the "feet" of the rail. Hope this assists.

My loft opening is approx. 70cm wide by 130cm. Will this be big enough to go around the opening?

Probably not, the fixing holes are at 72cm centre to centre so would just do but the length is only 100cm so it would not provide a hand hold at the top of the loft ladder, it would be short by 30cm. The rail fits our standard loft opening and we love it as it gives us a lot of confidence going in and out of the loft.
