Black TV: Five Decades of Groundbreaking Television from Soul Train to Black-ish and Beyond Review: Black TV - I read a lot of books. Mostly fiction .. I have read many true stories and autobiography which I did enjoy very much. I like a book that grabs my interest from the start. A book that I hate to put down and cannot wait to find out what happens next. This book was different from the style of books I usually read. So I wasn’t sure how much I would enjoy it. I have read many articles written by Bethonie Butler in the style section with the Washington Post. Her articles were very informative and interesting. I have been a fan for years. The book for me was very well written. I remember most of the shows that she writes about . Some of the shows I remember liking and some I did not. Whether you liked some of the shows, all the shows or have never seen any of the shows this book will keep you wanting to learn and understand the story and struggles behind the shows. Butler entertains you with some of the iconic scenes of each shows then tells you how each show, every actor, actress, and writers helped built the black entertainment as we see today.. For those of us that grew up with these shows it brings back memories while allowing us to appreciate the history behind the shows. For those who did not grow up knowing theses shows or for those who never seen or heard of these shows, the book will give you knowledge and insight into black tv then and black tv now. Great book! Review: Fantastic book! - Currently reading this book. Fantastic read! A must for fans of these shows!

Excellent Book
I enjoyed reading this book it went over a lot of history of black television shows. It listed the trailblazers & pioneers who helped established how we got our start. I enjoyed reading about some shows I had missed before although I did know the majority of these shows being a child of the 70’s. I highly recommend reading this book.
