Waiting for Spring to Try It!
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to review this product under the Amazon.com Vine Program.Because our Minnesota winter is still with us, we haven't yet had an opportunity to use this game outside, as it is intended to be used. We look forward to the long-awaited Spring weather! However, even without having had this opportunity, as yet, it is very obvious that the Soft Tip Sky Darts will be much safer, and just as much fun for children to play with than the steel-tipped darts with which we were previously familiar. A much-improved concept!--Ron & Renee Howe / Erskine, MN / March 23, 2011

do not buy
there is no way the plastic yellow circle ever lies flat to throw the darts into. No matter what you do they crossover curl up and flip in two. Had to ad Lib other things. Very frustrating

The circles never came unwound
The darts are fine but the circles came so tightly wound I still can’t get them in a circle form. I have tried lots of ways. So we painted circles on the grass for the event I needed them for.

Good family fun (but I still miss the original lawn jarts)
Having grown up playing lawn jarts (which are now illegal and can't be purchased) we thought we'd give this set a try to see if it was a good substitute. While it was fun, it wasn't the same. The darts have a tendency to bounce a little bit when they hit the ground. The weighted bottom means they will almost always land the right way. The rudders on them feel kind of flimsy though so I'm not sure how long it will be before one of them cracks. We also felt the distance in the instructions was too small (but all we did was just play by our own rules by moving them farther away). We also just had fun throwing them as far as we could to see who could throw farthest and who could throw their two darts to land closest to one another.I like that the set has a cloth bag to store it all in, but that means the plastic rings have to be bent up to fit inside there. It took quite a while of leaving them out in the sun to release the creases when we first received the set so I won't be putting the rings back in the bag (only the darts). All in all it is a fun game the whole family can enjoy.

Soft tip sky darts
The darts are solid, very well made; Upright on throws sometimes, but very bouncy. Original yard darts were still much better.

The ring portion of the toy will not stay stretched out. Can’t use the ring.
The ring is useless

Yard darts
Rings do not stay round, or flat to the ground sky darts bounce, very hard to stick the landing. Really miss the original jarts

Meh.
Maybe the word "Dart" shouldn't be anywhere near this game. It isn't a bad game, but for anyone who played the old-school lawn darts game, these set up some unrealistic expectations. I know that lawn darts were dangerous, and that's why they invented an alternative, like these. But the Soft Tip Sky Darts don't just come down and stay put in their place in the grass. They bounce in weird ways. They don't always land upright. Also, the highly visible scoring hoops take quite a bit of coaxing into a hoop shape, because they're wound up into smaller circles to fit into the carry-bag, and the plastic wants to retain that shape instead of being a hoop.If you're not letting your expectations be unrealistically high about this game being just like lawn darts, except safer, maybe you'll like this game. It's kind of like playing bocce with the balls on sticks with fins (that look a little like cartoon bombs), and instead of throwing the bocce balls at the little ball and scoring from that, you'd throw your cartoon bombs into a hoop, and you can knock your opponent's cartoon bombs out of their place. The stick and fins make this a little awkward. I think it would work better, just trying to throw bean bags into a hoop. But apart from the wonky plastic hoops, which could be resolved with lots of play, perhaps, or even immersing the plastic in hot water for a little bit before you want to play, then shaping them into hoops, or using a couple rocks to hold them flat, the Sportcraft Soft Tip Sky Darts would be decent fun for a family to play. Something about the plastic leads me to believe the pieces won't stand up to heavy play, but a few summers' worth of fun. The carry-bag is unfussy and works well for storing and taking along the game. It's all about what you're looking for in a game to play in the lawn.
