Effectively re-waterproofed a goretex jacket
I have a waterproof warm Goretex jacket I use for walking the dog in winter, and it had got filthy with mud as they do! The jacket was machine washable, so after a lot of advice from Auntie Google I machine-washed it and another waterproof jacket with a regular detergent to get them clean, then hand-rinsed them to get all the detergent out. I then put them through the machine twice with the Nikwax TX Direct (doubling up to compensate for using detergent to get it clean) and let them drip-dry. With some scepticism I tested waterproof-ness (is that a word?) using the 'shower' setting on the garden hose. Both jackets are as waterproof as they were when new! So I'm delighted and will definitely use again.

Waterproofs well!
Waterproof clothing needs re-proofing if you wear it a lot, e.g. every day this July thanks to the UK’s glorious Indian summer. I’d already re-proofed my dog handling jacket and trousers. After getting soaked through in a downpour wearing a ‘rain resistant’ synthetic down jacket, I decided to try the Nikwax Direct on it. In the machine I first washed the jacket using a liquid soap solution (the sort used for tents), short spin, then added the Nikwax and washed on 30C. Worked a treat! Wore it for an hour in heavy rain walking the dogs and was bone dry. It’s expensive for the amount you get but it does work.

instructions confusing
The manufacturers claim you need 150ml of solution in the washing machine to wash with this. Yet two capfuls suffice in most online demos? Which is it? There is a huge difference!

Great product!
I used it on some jeans to prepare for a trip to Iceland as I knew it would be very snowy while there. Super easy to use and worked as intended! No soggy, heavy jeans!

Does what it says on the "tin"
This was the first product that came up on a search for request; the review and price looked great and delivery was next day - Perfect! Product simply went into the washing machine with the coat. Instructions were easy to follow. Would thoroughly recommend it. My coat was washed yesterday and all the residual mud has gone, stains have vanished and I have every confidence that the waterproofing will be as good as it was.

Easy to use
What can I say it's easy to use you just add a couple of cap fulls into the wash and job done, just need to get caught out in the rain then we'll see if it's actually worked or not. I'll update my review once I know what the results are.

Good rewaterproofer
Bought this to re waterproof our jackets and trousers for the festival season. Works really well, as we did typically caught in the shower watching Ann Marie! Make sure you wash the machine empty with detergent after use!!!

Buen producto si protege las prendas tal como lo describe el fabricante además que si es transportable. Yo lo usé en la nieve y no se fijaron las prendas.

I had a few older North Face Hyvent shells to treat. I live here on the PNW coast of WA, so I need good performing rainwear as I trail run in the rain a few times a week. I had used the scotch guard spray in the past but still got so wet through in spots.....So this product.. I used a 5 gallon bucket with 2 gallons of water in it to make it really concentrated...poured in the entire bottle and stirred it up. I then put my two coats into the mix and made sure all was wet and covered. I let them sit for about an hour and then drained the excess water back into the bucket to reuse for two more coats. That bottle treated 4 items for me. They hung outside for about 2 hours to get rid of the dripping water, then a quick spin in the washer(no water just a spin cycle) to remove a little more water and then they went into the dryer on low for abut 30 minutes. I did not wat to over dry them in the dryer so then I took the slightly damp coats out and let them dry totally in my basement x1 day with a fan blowing on them. No smell from not doing a water rinse and they now shed water like they were new. Much easier than putting them in the washer I think. It takes a little effort and time but it was money well spent. btw I did not pre wash them with the Nikwax. They were pretty clean, no mud but a few dirty spots. I did not care if they looked brand new, just worked in the rain. These were used coats I got online for $30 each...used to be $$250 shells new...and they were 20 plus years old. I wear them 5 days a week when I am on a trail run with a pack. Final verdict is Nikwax is easier than scotch guard, better coverage, no smell, and works out to about $4 per coat....a pretty good deal.
