A good spring hinging solution for round fence posts and gates for the money. The spring tension can be increased by sliding the bar through the top or bottom bracket (don't install the bar fastener on that end). Some cheap gate hinges have too much friction caused by poor hinge fit and will inhibit your spring from automatically closing your gate. The problem is the hinge and not this spring. Works great after replacing the hinge pin receptor bracket. Recommend.

Simple and minimal design. Easy to install. Only flaw which will prove the gate to not self close, is the bracket that goes on the gate itself. It’s too big for the gate & so no matter how tight the screws are, the bracket doesn’t snug the post enough and will swivel each time the gate is opened. A solution we found was to wedge a piece of metal between the post and bracket and then tighten the bracket. This kept the tension rod in place and taut. Worked like a charm.
