Outlasts its warranty by an incredible 4 months
Excellent price for a adapter that lasts as long as it does (16 months of intermittant use). It has a self check feature in that your computer will stop charging its battery and the system will slow down to an automatic shutdown. Great product in that many other adapters will function way beyond their warranty. This product has a 12 month warranty and lasted 4 months beyond that time.

Kept computer on but stopped charging almost immediately
ETA: I changed my star rating to 4 from 1 because the seller contacted me and provided a full refund. The product was still faulty or poor quality - they seem to work fine for some people - but the seller didn't manufacture it, and they're obviously trustworthy and upstanding. I purchased this because an official Dell replacement was $40, which seems overpriced. My original charger had a bent pin that required holding it at an angle for the computer to recognize it. This charger worked for at least a few days, and then because I use the laptop in the same place and rarely unplug it, I'm not sure when it stopped. But it got to the point that if I bumped the pin enough to barely dislodge it, the computer would go off. It wasn't charging the battery but only keeping the laptop on when plugged in. The computer stopped recognizing the battery at all, and each time it went off from an accidental slight movement of the plug-in, a screen would pop up on restart indicating that it didn't recognize the power source. It slowed to a crawl and has been so difficult to use (and I work on it 30-50 hours a week) that I was sure I was going to have to replace it after having it less than a year. Eventually, it also said the BIOS needed updating and the time would be wrong for about 20 minutes before it finally caught up. The laptop is under warranty until October, so a Dell technician came and replaced the battery. The performance improved immediately. He noticed that the charger was slow. It was at 25% when the laptop recognized the battery, and still at 25% by the time he packed up and left. He said that it's always better to get a Dell charger because off-brand ones don't always work the same no matter what they say, and to let him know if the Dell branded one doesn't work any better so he can look for another cause. I watched the battery power sink by 1% to 2% each day despite being plugged in 24/7 and figured he'd have to come back out to replace the port. Maybe it was damaged by the bent pin. I really didn't think it was the charger, but I went ahead and took his advice. I paid $40 for a Dell charger. It arrived less than an hour ago, and my laptop battery is up to 56%. Now I'm wondering if using this charger is what ruined the previous battery, or if it might not have needed to be replaced at all. I wish I'd spent the extra money originally and saved myself weeks of stress and frustration at the slowness, losing work when it accidentally went off, and worrying that I'd have to replace it. I would recommend spending a little extra for the charger from your laptop's manufacturer to avoid potential problems.
