I enjoyed the first story in a new series that is part mystery, suspense, and a sweet, clean western romance. The story will have Hanna Marsh and her father leaving their home in Boston and traveling west to California. Dr. Marsh’s health has deteriorated, and the dryer climate of California is needed.The story has the trials of the train trip and the final legs of the journey by coach. It will have Hanna them arriving and reconnecting with Luke Anderson, a former student of her fathers, but also someone that she has corresponded with for years. But now that she is here, what will happen with their relationship?“Ah—and Prince Charming calls, right on time,” Dr. Marsh said, cracking a weak grin. “It’s really marvelous when the universe works according to the expected narrative. Luke and Hanna are a sweet couple, even if he has a hard time popping the question. The engagement brings joy to her father. The story also brings out the dangers in the wilderness, like rattlesnakes and unsavory characters.

This is the first book in this series and it is a good story about a young woman that helps to save monks

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Just enough intrigue and danger to make it interesting. Clean romance with a pulse .

This book has some intrigue, some shooting and more than a little bit of mystery. It will leave you hoping for more of the mystery being solved. Alas we have to wait on Katie to make that decision. Great read hard to put down. Enjoy.

The story drags in some parts and then has places where it summarizes portions of the story. It is an ok read. I guess that is why it is a short story.

Interesting story filled with suspense, monks, family,robbers, treasure maps, historians and love.Hannah Marsh and Dr. Marsh, her father, head toCalifornia for a fresh start and in the hopes that thedrier climate will help her father's health. They alsoplan to reunite with Luke, a former protege of herfather's and a man that Hannah has been correspondingwith for many years. Follow their story after they arriveto see what happens.

Enjoyable story of early times in California. Although the story is fiction, there seems to be some truth found in the library of the caring monks. Good realistic characters.

The hint of treasure always adds interest.

Simply looking forward to seeing a new area and father’s health improved. The trip really taxed him and at one point I thought he passed.
