This flour makes awesome little cake breads
Wow I am so impressed. This brand has two bags and both are sealed and vacuum packed. Great taste nice color and small clumping as is to be expected with this flour that is what sieves are for. Thank you so much I was worried even though I bought this brands spices and herbs before that there would be a problem with the order like on some of the reviews. Nope went with my instincts and past experience of this being great company and I was right. Try it, it makes excellent sweet breads with currents and some wheat flour and spices and buttermilk. You just have to knead it a lot till it forms into a ball it is a very sticky sticky dough even mixed with other flours. You can cut up the pieces of bread and eat like cereal in soy milk or milk or almond milk whatever even coconut milk would be good. Dip it in coffee exquisite.

Sifter very definitely required
Let me start by saying that I am about the furthest thing in the world from an expert baker, and this is the first barley flour I've ever met. So, with no basis for comparison at all, I like it! The only issue I had - but it was a significant one - was that the package it came in was tightly packed, like a very light barley brick. This translated to things that were more like boulders than clumps. When I sifted it, it very nearly doubled in volume...and then my dough came out unbelievably sticky and I had a to add a lot more flour until it worked. So I guess the sifted flour was exceptionally fluffy? All of this can probably be handled by anyone with A: a sifter, and B: either experience dealing with flour by volume, or a recipe that sensibly uses grams instead of cups. And I'm eating the first slice of the soda bread I made, and it came out pretty nice!

Delicious & fine grind
Very well sealed for freshness. Very fine grind, good for making pancakes, waffles, drop biscuits, etc. Nice, fresh, kinda nutty flavor, but dense like whole wheat: you may want to blend with cake flour and/or whipped egg whites when making something that needs to be light or fluffy like pancakes.

Poor quality
This was not a high quality item. The taste & texture were like sand. I would not recommend to anyone.

Good
This Barely flour is very healthy and wonderful on my stomach. I have been using this brand for many years and would stick to it for the years to come.

I wish this stuff came in larger quantities cuz it’s pretty expensive but I love barely flour…it’s the closest to wheat flour and same measurements…

I couldn't find barley flour in any local stores I was happy to find this on amazon however... I would recommend keeping the bag in the freezer for the first 3 days after opening to prevent weevils. I’m not completely sure, but I may have gotten weevils from this batch, which was disappointing. Overall, the flour is fine, but be cautious about storage to avoid pests.
