illycaffe 20709 Milk Frother, Stainless Steel - silver

Having tried every brand of electric milk frother (from global to obscure), electric whisks and manual frothers over the years, I am so happy with this solution. It is perfect! You can froth enough milk for a couple of cups at a time, the froth is perfect every time and it just looks so much better than those ugly electric frothers out there. Am very very pleased.

It foams very well and the milk quantity is good for 2 capuchinos but, unfortunately, it doesn’t last long. My previous one died in less than a year with melted motor brushes. With PWM speed control and lack of capacitor across the motor, it is not surprising and is actually a design that fails in no time. I put a cap on this one from the very beginning, so hopefully will last longer.

Update 11/17: less than 9 months old and the frother motor is dying already. The jug was great but the noise and (as Christina commented) operation is poor. Especially at this price. Breaking down after 8 months is not acceptable.Nice looking piece of kit that does a good foam. The stainless steel jug is very nice. There is a little plastic 'spider' that clips in on the bottom (I could not find any information on this when doing my research). I hope that the 'spider' wheel will last (there is a spare in the base). My two complaints are the price and the very noisy operation.

Comparred to my old one this is exactly the same but double price. Worth looking at other ones before purchasing this one.

Great Machine when new - good for large volumes of milk but expensive.At about 10 months started to notice the stirrer wouldn't start. Made screeching noises and completely gave up after 1 year. Just out of warranty. Poor internal design as externally looks good quality.

This is NOT an illy machine as advertised. It is merely recommended by illy. Its cheap tat. The build quality is terrible. I cant comment on its performance as im sending it straight back. Terrible.

To get the milk to a hot temperature you have to heat the jug with hot or boling water before using it, otherwise the milk is not hot enough

Really disappointed- product had clearly been used, scratches on plastic lid, front of base unit had marks on brasher metal, inside of pot was marked - milk residue.
