Outstanding Sound, Deep Clean Bass, Loud!
Outstanding subwoofer. I have been into car and home audio since I was a teen in the early/mid 90s. I have owned home speakers from Klipsh, Bowers & Wilkins, Polk Audio, JBL Reference, Paradigm and car audio speakers from Focal, MB Quart, Infinity Kappa, Polk Audio, Diamond Audio, JBL to name a few so I know a thing or two about audio. I connected this sub to my Denon A/V Receiver, JBL Reference Fronts, Center and Bowers & Wilkins small surround speakers in a 12x16' room. This is a budget set up for my home Cigar Lounge. I set the gain to 30% in order to do the initial break in. I can tell you this sub sounds amazing for $220. At 30% gain it fills the room nicely with clean, deep bass. I really thought about spending the extra $ on the Klipsh SPL sub, I am glad I didnt as this is more than enough for my room and needs. This is a huge upgrade from my 12" Infinity Sub, extremely happy with it.

Great price on a good sub
I picked this up via Woot through Amazon at a really nice price. This was the last item I needed in order to fill out my Klipsch home theater. I have this paired with a 5.1 set of bookshelf reference speakers and it was the cherry on top. Initial setup sounded pretty terrible due to the settings I was utilizing for the previous underpowered 8" sub I was using, a Polk Audio. It was gifted to me so...To the point, I had to spend about three hours recalling, looking up manuals and frequency charts going through various settings on the Denon receiver in order to produce the correct sound. The first setup on prior settings was super muddy and overpowering. I took the time to adjust the crossover settings and gain level and was able to get the new sub performing as was expected. It is very powerful and very heavy on presence. It sounds good throughout it's power and volume range and matches well to the reference speakers I already had completed. Highly recommended if you want very punchy, very powerful bass. It sounds really good both with media content as well as various forms of music. I would say the only down side to the speaker is it's tendency to be muddy/strong. The price this was on sale for and it's pairing with the other components on hand is solid. As a side note, and not a reflection on Woot (the seller) but as a note of warning and caution for Amazon specifically in regard to their delivery drivers. I was out of town on the projected delivery date. It was unavoidable due to scheduling and at the price was afraid it would be gone when I got back. I got a notification that it was "delivered and handed directly to a resident". I called my son who was home and asked him about it and he said it was not here. The driver did NOT take a picture of the item like they commonly do. This aspect was quite worrisome considering the cost of the item. Right about the time as I was about to contact Amazon about the issue the item turned up on the middle of my driveway at 8:45 PM. It was only packed in it's retail box, no covering, plainly obvious as to what it was. I am super glad that I live in an area that is both low in crime and a dead end neighborhood. This could EASILY have walked off. It would be worthwhile for Amazon to discuss with their drivers appropriate CYA in regard to items like this. Dropping off some $5 item "wherever" is one this....this, well... In spite of that SNAFU if the speaker is available for that sub dual bill sale price it's more than a steal of a deal. Highly recommended.

This thing... is a beast! shakes windows ect... if that's what you want :)
It's a bass sub woofer for sure, goes deeper and louder than I would ever want. Sturdy, Good looking, heavy cabinet, Beautiful Bass accent to my movies like (Bladerunner 2049) gets my blood PUMPING! Not to mention all the music I listen to. It is used with my SONY STR DH590 and two really big speakers (w/15 inch woofers) This has a feature, I just leave it on auto and it will automatically turn on with my TV/stereo. I have this for one and a half years now, no problems. Sub woofers always made a HUGE difference for me, in home or auto. Never go without one I say.

Amazing bass with rattle-free driver. Easy to setup/tweak. Huge cabinet. Needs high-quality cable.
I added this subwoofer with a new Yamaha RX-V385 receiver and a pair of older Aiwa 6" front speakers, and this setup produces incredible, clear music and movie audio in all frequencies. The Klipsch subwoofer is so easy to setup and customize, it could probably work in just about any home audio and theatre setup, regardless of your other speaker sizes. From an audio perspective, I could not be happier. The Klipsch is perfect. From an aesthetic point of view, while the Klipsch subwoofer is beautiful, especially with the front cover off, this speaker is HUGE. At 16" high and nearly 19" deep, it really stands out as like a small piece of "furniture". If you are looking for a compact or somewhat invisible speaker setup, this may not be the best choice. Be sure to measure the space where you will place this subwoofer to get a good idea of how big it will be and how much space it will consume. The HUM: When I first installed the subwoofer with the included RCA cable, it produced an unbearable low-frequency HUM, even with the audio system powered off. It made this noise simply by turning on the subwoofer, plugging in the cable, and turning up the gain. Adjusting the settings had no effect on this hum, and it made no difference whether audio was even sent to the speaker. But after replacing the RCA cable with a higher-quality shielded cable, the hum immediately went away. The Power Light: Other reviews have mentioned an annoying bright blue power light on their subwoofers, but the version I received has a green, dim light that is not over-powering, although it is still visible on the front, even when the front cover is attached. It is not that noticeable, but the green color seems out-of-place. A gold/amber color would have been a better choice. PROS: * Incredible, warm, rattle-free bass * Works with receivers with either single (LFE) or dual (Left/Right) subwoofer pre-amp outputs * Volume/gain easily adjustable - will only shake your floor and walls if you want it to! * Crossover setting from 40-200 Hz makes it compatible in almost any speaker configuration * Power Auto-On option: Powers on when audio is detected. Powers off after 20 minutes of silence. CONS: * Cabinet may be too big for some people * Needs high-quality RCA cable * 2-prong, Ungrounded Power Cable

Great sound, but you MAY need to work with it a bit to get it optimized.
I recently purchased the Klipsch R12-SW to replace my old JBL160, which had been emitting intermittent rude noises ("fart"-like or screeches), and which an audio repair tech was unable to fix. (I donated it to a different repair guy to keep it out of a landfill.) Unlike my experience with the JBL160, I had a bit of a challenge integrating the Klipsch sub into my home audio system; its low frequencies were powerful, but overall the system's lows seemed a tad muddy. The problem turned out to be my own ineptitude, as after a couple of days of tweaking the sub's and my receiver's settings, their sonic integration became seamless and beautifully complementary. To my ear, the Klipsch's output MAY be slightly less "punchy" than the JBL's, but it's more accurate and natural. (I have its gain set quite low, so I know there's ample headroom for different room acoustics, applications, e.g. movie explosions vs. string quartets, and personal preference.) So, to anyone considering this item for purchase, I highly recommend it, but you may need to work with it to get your preferred sound perfectly dialed in.
