The card reader is really easy to use and super convenient! I was a bit wary because reading through reviews, I became aware that many people had issues with the required app and setup process but I've had no such issues. The reader works consistently and lasts me for a whole day out busking without having to recharge. It makes it much easier to take payments and donations without having to rely on people carrying cash! Its not rated for water resistance but a little rain exposure hasn't damaged it yet in my experience and I'll be using this for the foreseeable future!

I have acquired this square card reader for use by a non-profit organization to finally enable us to take card payments at our fundraising events. As part of this we needed to set up a square account, it was simple enough however it took some time (about a week) for all details to be checked, validated and all set up, so do bear that in mind if you are aiming to get set up with this for an event. Having got our account set up and app downloaded it was very simple to connect the reader to the app and take a payment. One nice feature is you can have the app installed and logged in on multiple phones and the reader can connect to each of those devices, so if there are a few of you working on a stall in shifts you can move the reader between phones without needing to give someone else your phone, again ideal for non-profits. Payments went through smoothly and deposited in our bank account without issue. Overall impressed how relatively easy it was to get set up and going to take card payments at our events.

Got this for occasional use at pen shows. There are just 2 a year and I am not going to be trying to sell pens at everyone as that was just to reduce my collection. First time all was fine. Did not use the reader for about 21 months. Used it to test my mother's credit card with a 1p purchase as she stopped off at mine on her way on holiday. Worked fine. 3 months later I am at a pen show, connect to the reader, hardware failure. Does not say what and it connects by bluetooth but the software prevents me from even trying to use it. Of course I am now a week out of warranty... Are these designed to last just 2 years. Might just stick with NFC on my phone which is what I had to resort to.

Die Bedienung ist simpel, und technisch wirkt das Gerät absolut solide. Für den eigentlichen Zweck – kontaktloses Bezahlen per Karte, Apple Pay oder Google Pay – wäre es perfekt geeignet. Allerdings gibt es einen entscheidenden Nachteil: In Deutschland lässt sich das Gerät nicht registrieren oder aktivieren, was es hier praktisch unbrauchbar macht. Das ist besonders ärgerlich, wenn man es für den professionellen Einsatz gekauft hat. Optisch top, funktional leider ein kompletter Fehlkauf für den deutschen Markt.
